How will you welcome a counter stating the number of online users here?

I started this after a question of,so many members in mylot and having less responses.Yes!The mylot population shows more but we are unable to get more responses.Members answer this stating that inactive members are also counted. So,if there is a counter to say,how many are active online at a present time,it will be helpful,I think.Atleast we can know the number of active users. What is your opinion?

There may be many users online but if the topics are not interesting to them then they will not respond. Discussions can receive responses many months after they are posted so a counter showing online users would not resolve a problem of few response to a discussion. It may be interesting to know which of our friends are online at a certain time but that can also be seen from profiles now anyway.

Ah so it's not the lack of responses that bother you but the echo because it's too quiet?

Why would it matter? It does not matter if one or one thousand users are on at the same time. Since people live all over the world in different time zones, this isn't real-time asking and replying. I think it would be a waste.

Even though we are all from different time zones,we should get more responses to our posts with this huge population. But the reality is not like that.I am not speaking only form my experience.I have seen more posts left with few responses. So,It will be good to have a counter to see the active users.Cheers!

Yes, that's pretty helpful but the reason why people don't respond on most discussions because lately, there has been only few discussions that are worth responding, at least for me personally. Some discussions, i can't relate so i guess there's no reason for me to respond. Right now, i just responded to less than 10 discussions which is unlikely because it's already night here in our place and i would normally reached the 15-discussion personal quota.

Ah yes! Definately, there are many members who are inactive for two to three years. They are counted too. But even if we say that half the population on mylot is inactive that still has more than 80,000 still active. So that is quite a bit. So it is just that maybe the particular discussion is not very interesting or not relevant to the user. It still doesnt solve the issue of less or no responses. But it still a good idea.

Thank you for appreciating the idea.I accept a post gets responses only it is relevant to the responders. But I can see more posts which can gain only four or five responses.Once in a while there are posts with hundreds of responses.Does it mean there are more posters than responders? So,it will be helpful if a counter is there.Cheers!
