Investing on pets...

Just a while ago, i pass by the aisle of the grocery stores and i noticed that they have a long aisle selling foods and accessories for pets.
I've seen clothes and shoes for dogs, combs for cat - some canned foods...name it and surely you can find it.
im just wondering, are there people who really invest for their pets? I mean, like buying all this stuff...which when i inspect is even way to expensive compared with the regular human foods..hmmnn.. great to be a pet huh? hehehe!
Guess, what? i've seen this man lugging a big sack of dog food in his trolley and then im quite amused - only a few can of sardines and some bread, i might say he got for himself.
i'm an animal lover as well - but going beyond seems not that viable, what do you think? do you invest a lot of money for your pet/s too?

Yes there are alot of people who invest in their pets! Some way to much! When it gets to be an obsession and the person or persons lose their sense of reality then something is wrong! I am a animal lover and owner. I would never over indulge in my pet! I don't need to and couldn't afford to if I wanted to! My pet gets the best care there is I just don't go over board like other people do!

definitely, that's the point - it's our responsibility to take care of them and give them the best care.
but going overboard is way beyond reasons...
think about this: would you let your pet live in a hotel exclusively design for them? and i tell you, the prize is way beyond the blue...lol!

Take a quick look around outside to see that people do indeed buy strange and colorful clothing for their pets. People tend to view pet ownership as a hobby, just like anything else. For that reason, of course a market has sprung up around the idea of buying things for your pet. Personally, I find things like that wasteful.
I don't, though, think it's wasteful or inappropriate to buy good or quality food for your pet. Our animals don't ask to live with us, we willingly take them into our homes. For that reason, it's our responsibility to provide quality food, a good home, and essentials. Please, though, do not insult you dog or cat by trying to make it wear shoes or sweaters.

strike! i definitely agree with you! its our responsibility to take care of them.
but its way off the marker when we let them be treated more than we treat fellow being.
think about this...will you let your pet inherit your millions when you die rather than giving it to charity or to your relatives?
you see, this thing do happen and i do find it weird...

a pet is like a child. the easy child. right now, i only have a cat. he has his favorite toys, scratch boards and scratch post, his cat tree is like his tree house, and he enjoys my bed and couch, as well as his cat bed and blanky. he has his particular food that he likes to eat, fancy food cans and dry food. he also has some treats that i give him once in a while. he is indoor only. so, he lives the spoiled life.

i won't invest that much on a pet cause i don't have money to buy those dog foods. i just give them food that i cook. what i eat is what they will also eat. i just given some portion of my food for them. some times i just open canned corned beef. but that is the most expensive that i can give them. for cats i usually just open sardines and sometimes fish that are just left from the food that i ate. sometimes i cook fish specially for them.

I've bought toys for my cats and in every case I wasted my money. They had very little interest in any of those toys. Now the only thing I buy them is the food they eat and the stuff that's put on them to get rid of fleas. I also take them to the vet for their annual check up and shots.

I see no problem in spoiling your dog, cat, or whatever you have. I mean I would buy my dog a coat for the winter because he doesn't have a heap of fur. There are some limits though like dog earrings or dog dresses... I think they don't like those.

me too, i mean i don't have any business telling people what to do with their pets.
but i just find it amusing and allowing me to think...have you ever wondered that at times we give a lot of attention to our pets, have the money to buy expensive stuff for them...but so stringy with our time for friends and not even able to treat them...
more often, the way we treat animals is way better than we treat our fellow human...so how can we be so kind to animals and not to humans? just asking again..lol!

A lot of people ( including myself) see their pets as part of their family, for people without children sometimes the pet is almost like a child to them and so it makes the owner feel happy to give their pet the best treatment just as they would a family member or a child....i dont dress my cats up but i buy them good food because I want them to be healthy and live a long life,,,,and i buy them toys because they enjoy playing with them...so i would say im in the moderate level of investment
