How would you deal with unwanted pregnancies?

My Gf and I were anxious and scared (probably stressed too) a few days ago because she was delayed. Thank heavens that it was just delayed and we did not hit the jackpot. The experience was exciting and at the same time scary. That experience really made me thought that fatherhood is something that needs preparation and planning. Do you guys ever had this experience? how did you cope up with the situation?
