Scripture - John 17:15
"My prayer is not that You take them out of the world but that You protect them from the evil one."
Jesus is praying to His Father that He protect His followers from the evil one. He does not pray that believers be taken out of this world to safety, but that they would be protected from the evil one. Through God's protection, we can still stand fats in our faith, trusting God to protect us from the evil one. The evil one that we need protection from is the devil who want to steal us away from God, because he hates God and those who follow God.
To be protected from the evil one means that, although we go through hardship, we will not loose faith, the devil will not decieve us away from God. Our eyes will be fixed on our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who has overcome the evil one.
When we go through hardship and endure, not only does our faith get strengthened, but also our tesimony. People see what you go through, they see that instead of being angry and hard hearted, you testify of how good God is. Your testimony is more trustworthy because you practise what you preach.
It is therefore necesary to always stay focused on God, who protects against the evil one, and help us to live a life that worth a trustworthy testimony.
May you be blessed.
