The maleo Birds living in my country, exacly place in Maluku, Sulawesi Island. I read from lokal info that this birds is almost gone or have a little community.
The goverment itself try to make conversion program to save The Maleo Birds. Why this birds is almost exticnt?
There is two reason, the habitat planting has been destroy by human and water sources is dirty or blackened. So rehabilitation of maleo birds habitat and water sources is the important thing.

Hello anangf. Water pollution and the habitats of the little birds as well as some other animals are the major problems for them. If we humans could be more aware of the importance of having a clean environment without polluting it any more, for sure the animals will multiply.

Your government or animal conservationist need to reserve one place for these birds and clean it up and give them the vegetation and habitat they need to populate.
So many animals are becoming extinct becasue of man taking over the land for housing and manufacturing.
Everywhere needs to establish habitats for these animals so our future generations can enjoy them as we have.

Sorry I have not heard of those birds before. Maybe Ive seen them in pictures somewhere but I just didnt know their exact name.
That is a bit sad that they are becoming extinct. All of us should really help in any possible way we can whereever we may be part of the world. Its good that your country's government is addressing the issue at hand. Hopefully, those birds you've mentioned will recover enough so that they get some stability and not be endangered still.

Aww, the bird is so cute, too :( I don't think I've ever heard of this bird. There are so many animals that have disappeared or are in trouble, from what people do to their habitats. Poor things.

I think your government has created a private beach for maleo birds. The beach is now a protected habitat for the maleo, a unique bird which relies on the sun-baked sands of beaches and in some instances, volcanically heated soil, to incubate its eggs, which it buries in the ground.
