I have in fact I recently dropped a pear of my favorte earrings down the sink drain I and tried to retrieve them but they were long gone, I hate it when that happens I tried using one of those wire hangers and shaped it into a little hook in the hopes that I would be able to hook it out of the drain, but of course that didnt work, now I'm extremely careful when putting on earrings in front of the sink becuse thats the second time thats happened to me, and I think its becuse the bathroom sink dosent have a cover over the drain hole, anyway have you ever accidentally dropped something of value down the drain?

I lost my earrings few times, because all of my mirrors are next to the sink...I should learn by now, but it is repeating problem of mine...
I don't know why, by placing my earrings next to my bathroom mirror is the best choice...

yes you can just open the pipe. for sure it is just sitting there. anyways, i am very much careful. i do take off every thing small and valuable that may fall down the sink so that i will not lose any thing by accident. specially before i don't know how to open the pipe under the sink. though i am still careful and still dont wear any thing while using the sink. i am not that worried cause i know how to retrieve it. and specially i don't think that it is dirty to open our sink. cause we have a very clean sink and kitchen.

I never had it done before. In the first place it will always be on top of my mind not to loose it.

I've dropped a ring down our sink drain. I never did get the ring back sadly. Several pairs of my earrings have also been dropped down the drain. One was my fault and the second was not my fault. I had them soaking in some peroxide on the sink to clean them and my mother somehow knocked the cap over and the earrings fell into the sink and went right down the drain. I never got those earrings back either.

I amazingly haven't dropped anything down the sink before that I can remember. I do know though that I would probably be able to get them out if I tried. Being the daughter of a plumber can come in handy.
Hope that my luck lasts though and I haven't jinxed myself. That would stink.

My husband thought that he had dropped his wedding band down the drain in the kitchen sink a few months ago. He didn't know exactly when it came off because he had been working on his motorcycle in the garage and had been using gunky stuff, plus he had cleaned his hands with some orange stuff along with washing them in the kitchen sink. He looked all over the garage before coming inside to tell me what had happened and taking apart the drain. No ring. A week or so later it turned up in the garage...on a high shelf...where he had put it so he wouldn't lose it while his hands were all gunky.

I have never done this. I used to put my ring by the kitchen sink when I did dishes. My husband was always very nervous about it, so I now put it across the room on a shelf! That way if it gets knocked off, it is just on the floor.
I do remember when I was younger that I had put a ring on the bathroom sink. I washed my hands before dinner. When I went to pick it up, I accidently knocked it off. I was very upset because I thought I had lost it! My dad took apart the pipes, but we couldnt find it anywhere! I was devestated, even though it wasnt actually worth much. A little while later, my sister found it on the floor! It must have fallen off the sink the other way! Oops!
Like the person before me mentioned, the best thing to do is to take apart the pipes under the sink. The section is called the trap - it helps prevent anything other than water actually making its way to the sewer system. They may have gotten caught in there. They may still be there! (Of course the will be really dirty, but you can get them cleaned.)
