How attached are you to your pets?

Just wondering about this because I never allowed myself to get too close to our house pets. My hubby and kids are very fond of dogs and they always play with the 3 we currently have. They are also the ones who are devastated when one of our pets die.
I guess I feel like it's too much emotional investment to get too involved with a pet. I already have a lot of things on my mind and it would do me no good to break down and fall apart too in case one of our pets die again.

Right now we don't have any pets. But with any pet we had I never got really attached either. I love animals but i can't see getting so attached like they are my children. When I was younger we finally got my mom to let us have a puppy. It got hit by a car shortly after we got it. After that we weren't allowed to get another one. I think that it was hard for my parents to see us so heartbroken. We did get to have some cats then when we moved to another place. They came and went so we pretty much got used to not being attached to them.

I would say that I like pets especially dogs and cats. The first thing i did when i arrived home is to hug my cat and dog. They are really made me happy when i feel tired after work. And to add even my kids like them also. As I can share, my husband hates them and he is always angry every time he saw dogs inside our room. Even my cat that always lied into our bed. We always have arguments about this. But to point that he cannot stop me having those pets inside he surrendered and gave way to us. He has nothing to do but to look and nothing but just hands up...

I am very close to my pet but I am not so emotional. I have fear the what will happens if it leave us suddenly. But its true that none can show love more than those.
They are very good at master and shows wonder of love. I believe in that and close to pets may good but expecting ever lasting relation is not good.

Well I dont have any pets wich I dont think its fair because my parents dont want me to have any pets because they think I wont take care off it wich I would. I would love to have a dog someday since I love dogs, maybe once I move out of my parents house I will get that dog ive always wanted.

I don't have pets and I am not attached to any animal. I envy those who have pets that they pet and spoil. I don't have time for that. Cheers!!

I'm attached to my pets very much, I treat them as my family member, I can't imagine he will leave me someday... I always be with him because I do't work, I stay at hoe mostly so he is just like my son, I love him as much as I love my hubby.

I couldn't imagine living without my pets. I have always had dogs and cats growing up, and now that I have a family of my own, we will always have family pets. A lot of the dogs and cats we had when I was younger didn't make it very long, but we've had three that have lived very long lives. My cat made it to 14, he passed on earlier this year. I just lost my 13 year old dog this past weekend. It's more than heartbreaking, it's almost traumatic.

Hi writermom8! I would like to say i am a 100% attached to my pets. I have 7 wonderful and playful minipins, two of which are the mom and dad and one is an orphan which we adopted... I love them so much that whatever i eat they eat it too! I sometimes let them sleep with me in my room, since i have seven of them; i let the mom and dad sleep with me the rest sleeps at my laundry room.. even bought them doggy beds each and every one of them has their own toys and own stuff. I treat them like my own. I am afraid to face the future that one of them would die, i think i would not be able to take it all in...Still i would like to have a new pet or should i say baby with me again to take care of. Yes emotional investment is too much but if the outcome is a fun loving pet that will be there for you then id definitely consider having one again..
