It is a popular belief that high salt intake is the most common cause of high BP, did you know that there are some of the herbs which give taste of salt, like basil, thyme, coriander leaves etc and can be easily used in cooking for salt alternative, Is there any other salt alternative available?

Kosher salt is healthier, however it takes some practice to cook with. It only takes a very small amount to achieve the same level as table salt.

Most people get the majority of their salt from eating processed foods. Avoid processed foods whenever possible.
Sea salt is much better for you that regular salt.
For hbp balance potassium to sodium. Good foods high in potassium are avacado, banana and potato.

Using true sea salt or Real Salt (a brand name) will help cut the sodium, which is what you're after. Real Salt and other true salts have more potassium than commercial salt, so the sodium level is lower. Commercial salt is "cleaned" of impurities, including naturally occurring minerals which our bodies need.

In my opinion, there is no sub for salt. I think that with all things, moderation is key. Salt is very important for our bodies and is a vital mineral needed for fuctioning properly. Trying to stay away from salt all together can result in neurological problems. I say have salt lightly in cooking, but add no more at dinner ;)

One of the best ways you can reduce your salt intake is to not cook with it! Instead of putting the salt in during the cooking process, leave it out. Allow each person to salt their own food. Even if someone puts a lot of salt on their food, it will still be far less than the amount of salt they would get if the food were cooked with salt. The flavor of the salt is much stronger when it is added after cooking than it is when added during cooking.
I have just been slowly cutting the salt out of diets as much as possible! There are so many sources of sodium every day, that we dont need to add more. I now dont like many of the prepared foods you can buy in the grocery store. I dont even like some foods at the restaurant! They all taste too salty for me. Its amazing how much your tastes can change!
