I do everyday and it is so cute I know they understand what I am saying. Bad thing is they try talking to me while I am working and I know these cats do it on purpose she will sit next to my chair or jump up on my chair trying to get me to talk to her and I can't cause I am working. What kind of crazy things do your cats do trying to get you to talk to them?

Yes, but it's usually "FEED ME" I talk to them as well and they sometimes even do what I tell them to do.

LOL. I know how you feel. My cats are bottomless pits. They want to be fed all the time. They'll even whine for food when there is already food in their bowl. And when they smell meat they just go insane. But they're still good cats and I love them a lot.

I don't have a cat but I just adore them. We have a dog at our parents house and we love him as well. I guess your cats are just trying to get your attention and wants you to play with them. I've heard that cats are selfish and social and I think that's what they are exhibiting with their actions towards you.

I have 2 cats. One tries to talk to me almost all day. I know he understands when I talk to him because he respond by doing what I say. The other cat ONLY talks to me when I'm on the phone. Just as soon as the phone rings & I answer he jumps in my lap & meows like crazy. Putting him down does no good as he spins & jumps right back up...Drives me nutz!!! I'm sure I'll find a way to break him.
My last cat talked a lot. She'd even argue with me. I could ask her a question & she would respond with yes or no. She called my boyfriend by name. When she didn't have words I could understand, she'd find a way to show me what she needed (or wanted).
I also have 2 dogs. They understand me, but they haven't tried talking back.
I talk to ALL of my pets just like they're my children & they respond just like children....except they ALL understand that they're NOT allowed to drive the car!!!

My problem isnt that my cat wants me to talk to him. My cat wont leave me alone! I his always talking to me. He loves to talk for about an hour before it is time to feed him. He loves to talk to me if I am in the bathroom and he isnt in there with me. If I am in the kitchen doing anything, he wont shut up!
Honestly, it is cute that he talks so much. But sometimes it gets really annoying - especially when I am doing the dishes!
I do think that cats understand us when we speak. Just us learning a new language, they have to learn the language! Once we say something enough times, they start to understand what it means. The command my cat listens to the best is 'Get out of the kitchen!' That is always after warning him if he doesnt shut up he will be kicked out! Five minutes later he comes back in. He will sit quietly for a few minutes, then he begins talking again to make sure I know he is there!

My cat Toby has found ways to tell me what he wants. He'll meow and stare right at me when he is hungry (I trained him to say "please") or wants to play, he purrs loudly when he wants attention, and he runs through the vertical blinds when he wants to go outside. He's also developed the habit of smacking the shower curtain when I finish my shower (he likes to get in and drink the water off the floor).

My cats don't really. The only time one does is when she's in heat. (She really needs to be fixed!) But my aunt's cat yells all the time. She hates noise so whenever lots of people are around she'll yell, and bite at us. It's really quite amusing. We talk back to her when she gets really fussy.
