I Love The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency Series by Alexander McCall Smith

Does anyone else absolutely love the series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency written by Alexander McCall Smith? They have been out for a while I think but I never got the chance to read them before. Then a friend gave me one of those audiobooks for my birthday and I was hooked. I now have 4 audiobooks from this series and I absolutely love these stories. I really love the characters and the setting. They are set in a small community in Africa, just about everyday life with some work for the detective agency mixed in. I won't even try to spell the characters' names, but the character development in these books is great. I would recommend them highly as exceptionally good reading.

I love these books too. I usually read adventure or crime stories, so these are a nice change. I think I have read nearly all of them, and have watched the series on TV, which has been very good. I can identify with Mma Ramotswe and her love of Red Bush tea!

Yes, I love Mma Ramotswe as well. Wouldn't you love to know someone just like her? I knew there was a television series, but I don't have cable so I'm hoping they'll put out a DVD of that when the series has run. Thanks for your response. I'm only on my 4th book on this series, and I can't wait to read the rest.
