Now i am in 3rd year taking bachelor of science in NURSING...
Nursing here in our country is very in demand ,,,
that's one of the factors why poeple take nursing...
My parents want me to take nursing...
Well ofcourse it is okay for me to take nursing
but when the going gets thougher and tougher i realized that this is not what i wanted
but i have no choice to take it because with this course, my future will be secured.
I thought that someday along the way i will learn to love this course and my future job as a nurse...
but i can't avoid it that at times especially when time gets harder, i imagine myself working in the office airconditioned and just answering phones, signing papers... that's the life i wanted... maybe someday...
you... what made you pursue your course??

I take my course because I am very interested with people. I always wanted to understand the different personality of different people. I want to meet a lot of people and be able to assess them. I am a B.S. Psychology graduate and I am currently working close to different types of people.

We pursue our choice of careers for any number of different reasons. I'm graduating in a year with a degree in Human Resources. It's not my ideal job, and it's far from an exciting and fun-filled profession, but it's a decently reliable career with a fairly high starting salary.
Sometimes we end up picking the careers or majors that we do more out of convenience or common sense more than trying to end up with our dream jobs.

yah you are right...i think i should continue this because as you said earlier that nurses also has high salary... i have other dreams and with money i can achieve it. i think i should risk a dream to pursue other dreams... just being practical.

hi there, good topic because i really do not know what made me take my diploma in business administration course. it wasted my three years in terms of time, money and life. i am now looking at studying law and i am doing so because i am really interested in it. i so regret going for the business administration course and as for my answer to your question regarding my business course, i really am still figuring it out. :( haha

When i passed the entrance examination in UP, i only passed my second choice which was metallurgical engineering ( its all about metals and related to mining). I didnt pass my first choice which was electronics and electrical engineering which was my goal at that time but thank god since i learned how to love my course and field of expertise right now. When i got a few pre requesites from the ECE and Electrical Eng'g, i got agonized and I never thought that electronics was not that easy!

Do not think that working in an office is all glamor. I have done this type of work for years and after awhile I became bored with this type of work. You have to deal with people's different personalities and people tend to treat you like you are not as smart as they are, you're only good for moving papers. I know that nursing probably seems too much, but you can always do nursing for a couple of years. Make sure that you go somewhere that has a rotation so that you can decide which department you would like to work in for awhile. With jobs being so scarce right now, nursing is probably the only place you can find a job. I guess your parents knew this and in their wisdom they wanted you to do something with a bit of security. I decided to go to school once my children became adults and I am about to get my undergraduate degree in Business. I am trying to do international marketing since most jobs are overseas anyway. I want to try and bring some of the jobs back to the US, by encouraging other countries to invest in the US. So consider it a blessing that your parents suggested nursing for you because at least you have a future.

I finished a business course and I am not sure what made me decide with that course.lol!actually I don't like it but because there's no Film making course here in Davao, I floated like a drifter when I enrolled in the university that I took what is available. Right now, I extremely hated my degree and not a single day, wondering if I still can work in the film making industry. It is very difficult to be trapped in a course which you don't like.

What made me pursue my course? My interest in human behavior made me pursue this course. Also I feel like this is some what like a calling. I felt that in this profession I would be able to reach out to people in need and in my small timid ways would be able to help people who needs someone to listen to.

Its best to set and follow your dreams that you think you can to achieve the best results.
I was pushed through a University to take Engineering by my parents since they know that University graduates are much better in landing a job. That made a cut on my dreams but I followed what they want me to do. Then it was during my 4th year I stopped and continued to a technical certificate course ending me up to what I am now as an I.T. Support.
It might be frustrating before on me but with respect to them I pay attention to what they want. But for now that they saw what I was about with my dream, they tend to support me on taking up BS IT.And I was so glad they understand what was my dream before. I thank them even though I have to pay for my college now. The only thing is family support and not dis appointment considering the best ability that you can do.

I like my course at the beginning but when I am in 2nd year and my subject get tougher I want to shift course but my father didnt allow me. I like my course comp engg but I dont like the engg subject cause they are really tough. In 2nd and 3rd years most of the subject are for engineering so it was two years I dealt with those though subject. I'm not a good student so because of that it took me more than five years to finish college.

I was a nursing major when I first went to college. That was long ago. I think you should stick with it. Put in a few years learning all about the job of nursing and work your way into an administrative job. You will been seen as more valuable to the doctors who will consider hiring you. Take some business classes at night and keep yourself well rounded. Your future looks bright. I wish you luck.

You have come so far to stop now. I would continue and you can always find a career like an Administrator or DON at a faucility that you won't have to do all the "nursing" duties per se and have that office environment. There are many, many various fields in the Nursing/Healthcare sector you can find one that you really enjoy.
I have been going to school on and off for almost 13 years, think i would have something by now, but i do not. I was going for Human Services then switched schools because of finances and most of the courses were intertwined with nursing so i am now in the process of my Medical Assisting degree. I am working on the TEAS to get into the Nursing Program. I never thought I would be able to handle this but ever since my mother in law was in a car accident and i helped take care of her, I know I can do it but still leaning towards a doctors office of some sort.
Good Luck and I wish you the best. Yet, you have to find what You enjoy and something that you would be happy with.

I'm just about to take my course for I'm just an incoming 4th year highschool student. ^_^
I know nursing and engineering as well are very in demand but I wouldn't pick that as my choice just because they are mostly the needed.
I'm torn between accounting or tourism.
I both like it in a way but I prefer accounting.
I want to challenge myself with that mathematics and see how far I can get it through. ^_^
But, my relatives pushes me to take tourism for practicality purposes.

Nursing is a hard job. It is both physically and mentally demanding. If it isnt something you want to do, you shouldnt! There is so much more than just the medicine involved. To really care for your patients, you need to want to be there. If I ever need a nurses care, I want them to like thier job. I dont want them to be there just for a paycheck. People are much more careless when all they are looking for is the money!
I work in a research lab. It is what I always wanted to do, so I did! Now that I am actually doing it, I realize that where I am is not my perfect job. I still want to do research, just not here for the rest of my life! I dont hate it, it just gets really boring at times. I think once we change projects it will get better.
