When records were the rage I can remember that the artwork on them were often talked about just as much as the album. Artist were even asked about the artwork when a new album was released. When CD can out everyone wondered what would happen to artwork after all it didn't look as good little. Now that everyone seems to be getting music from the net, you don't hear about the artwork as much. After all it has been reduced to a thumbnail.
So is the trended dead or are is it just sleeping awaiting an artist to sprise us with a work that stands out even on the net ?

All digital albums or almost all still got covers because we like albums to have their own image so that we know it's a different album not just by the title.
I'm pretty sure a lot of people still do this work but they won't get paid millions anymore because we don't buy music because of the picture on the album anymore and that's a good evolution in my opinion. Now we just need to get rid of MTV and Fake Boobs girls that can't sing :p

Btw, forgot to say that I hate downloading music folders without a cover image! It really piss me off although that almost never happen. Image within the folder usually change the map view in the windows so that you see that image within the map without going to the map if you know what I mean.
