Hello i_luv_music , I don't have a home phone as of April 2009 when I had completely moved from my last apartment. Only people I have given my cell phone number know how to reach me. When I had a home phone I had calller ID ans if I didn't recognize the number I wouldn't answer it or if it showed no number then they could leave a message on the answering machine and I am not worried about bill collectors. I always pay my bills on time if I charged on my card.

Well, i never had to worry about bill collector from any company calling me. Because i always pays my bills on time. But, i always received calls from tellemarketer because i had joined many household promotions in the hypermarket. Most of the time, i will be receiving calls from any particular company, requesting me to buy their products. Most of the time, when i receiving this type of call, i will direct deal with them. I will direct let them know, whether i accept or denied their offer. I think this is the wiser way to do..To make sure that my phone won't be ringing like crazy..

Its probably best to just answer the phone and deal with them right away. The more you put it off the more phone calls you end up with in the end. So, dealing with the problem as soon as possible is definitely preferred, for me at least. Also, if you get any calls that contain a recorded message, if you let it play out, there's usually an option at the end where you can press "1" or "2" to have them stop calling you. So, it can be worth it to hang around a couple extra seconds when you get one of those annoying calls.

I am quite thankful that I dont have to deal with the bill collectors. That would drive me crazy! I understand that it is their job. But dont the companies think people know they are behind on their bills? As for telemarketers, if I have a few minutes, I like to mess with them! I will play stupid with them. Or ask them all kinds of crazy questions until they hang up on me. It is fun to ask them questions that arent related at all. Some of my favorites are 'When are the white tigers coming back to the local zoo?' or 'If it is 8 o'clock on the East coast, what time is it in Japan?' For credit card companies, I like to ask about weird fees, like the conversion fee for foreign transactions. I love when they cant answer the questions! When I dont feel like dealing with the telemarketers, I simply tell them they have the wrong number or that person isnt available! It works everytime.
