I learned Spanish, and can now speak it pretty fluently. I studied for 8 years(High School through College) Now I am studying Chinese at night, and I hope that will open some options for me. What languages did you study in school? How long did you study it/them?

I started learning Japanese (as part of fulfilling a high-school world language credit requirement) in 9th grade (as a freshman in high school). I kept with it for my four years of high school & I'm still learning it (in college!). I'm excited to study abroad sometime soon & become super-fluent in it. Otherwise, they tried to teach me Spanish in middle school - but, no megusta espanol, so, I didn't take it in very well and didn't want to continue on with it. lol. Good luck with learning Chinese!

What's nice about Japanese is that a lot of the Kanji characters MEAN the same things as Chinese characters (although they're pronounced differently and whatnot) - only I've heard Chinese is 10x harder, especially pronunciations. Haha. So it might be a learning experience for you too. What part of Japan are you going to?

Korean is fun to learn. I did the basic in just five days. Thanks to the beautiful Korean Language Teacher. Now I know how to read and write in Hanguel (Korean Language) I learned Filipino, Kapampangan, Tagalog & Bicolano. I used and learned Sign Language, too. English, French and Spanish or Portuguese are so famous, too. Mandarin Chinese they are solid population intact. Cyber language in our time (Computer Age). Korean is cool. King Sedong the founder and inventor of this awesome language to help his people. UNESCO King Sedong Literacy Award is so famous in the world. Even animals has their own language of their kind. Adamic language the original. Due to the stiff necked people try to climb the heaven up above it is impossible. They made the Tower of Babel and Almighty God is angry then they became different tongues. Same languages group themselves and scattered around the globe. Only Jaredites who are lived in Old America preserved the original language according to the Book of Ether in the Book of Mormon. Later, the Jaredites because of wickedness and evil doings they killed themselves until the last man Ether, who wrote that book. Countries with most number of languages India, Indonesia and the Philippines. Sometimes every five kilometers their is a another language confusing. Have a nice day.

I learn English language from school. All subject was basically in english language - Mathematics, Language and Vocabulary, Social Studies, Physical Education and Health. We are required to use English in our Examination and Recitation but communication with classmates is basically in our native language. In College I have 6 units of Spanish but honestly I cannot even remember how I pass the subject, I cannot even speak or write in Spanish.lol. By the way, I am from the Philippines.

Hi danrunsfast614 , in my case, my mother tongue is arabic , i studied fensh in school an i can tal it pretty well , and i learned english by myself ,and now i can discuss using english .. if you want my opinion , studing a language is not all ... of course you have to learn how to use tense and lean vocabularies , but the best way to perform you language is to practice it daily... in my opinion a language is like a plante when you stop giving her the water, after a while it will die ... and when you learn a language try to know the culture because meanings depends on cultures ....

My mother tongue is Chinese and I learned english through school educations. Now I've been working on French for more than 2 years and studying in Paris really FORCES me to make progresses but I guess I still need one more year to improve it.
