How do you choose your username?

When you are on sites such as Mylot how do you choose your username for them? Is there a story behind your username? Do you have different usernames for different sites? My username story is pretty boring. My name is Beki and I'm born on the 7th of October hence 710! I use the same username on most sites as I find it easier to remember! The only time I don't use beki is when I'm on websites specifically to do with my business in which case I use my business name of overdramaticdesigns.

I based my username on my real name which rose and mixed it with my favorite color which is blue. Sometimes I put numbers after my name which is always 17 because its my fave number and I was born on the 17th of october.

Hi, Beki. For me, i only have one username, which i usually use it online or in my messenger. For those sites i think they're formal enough, i'll use my real name as the username. These are such as in email, online earning sites and myLot here. For those sites that i think not so formal and there's no need to have my own name displayed, i'll use my nickname, which is onered. Haha, the reason behind it is just simple, it's the straight translation of my chinese name pronunciation into english. I usually use this for my blogs, messenger and online networking sites. Happy myLotting! :)

Most of the time for years now I use the same name monkeywriter (unless its taken I do a variety of it then). It stands for two things. A love of plush monkeys and a love of writing. So there you go monkeywriter. I have done monkeywritergal before. Its boring I know.

It's not as boring as mine! I like it, taking 2 things you love doing to create your name!

I started a discussion like this a few months ago and never got this many responses! My user name, K46620, is derived from one of my favorite Piano concertos, Mozart's 20th piano concerto in D minor. K 466 is the 'catalouge number'. Since K466 is too short of a user name at myLot, I added a 20 at the end since K466 is the 20th piano concerto.

I very much enjoy Mozart's Piano concertos! Do you play piano yourself? And I am so surprised by how many responses I have got from this discussion!

I do play the piano, but I'm not advanced enough to play concertos. I've only been doing lessons for 2 years :( Besides Piano Concerto 20, I like #12, #21, and #24. I'm sure there are more but I've only heard a handful. Which ones are your favorite?

I enjoy 9,20 and 21 I think the best out of the ones I have heard. I haven't heard all of them!

I have 3 user names that I interchangeably use. I'm a bit forgetful so I stick to these three. My user name maeras is based on one of my favorite books. It was a place and was described so vividly. I would have wanted to live there if it existed. Plus maeras sounds appealing to me so it always sticks to my mind.

i choose my username after my name and nickname.. actually i made a unique nickname so that it will be unique every time i sign up to other websites.. it gives me less hassle thinking what username will i use.. and i keep a record of all username and password that i use so that i won't forget it..

That's a good idea writing usernames and passwords down. As I tend to use the same username I don't forget that ut I often forget my passwords for lots of sites as I use different passwords for each one!

That's cool that you got it from a friend calling you that. If Beki710 is taken on a site I like to use bekolina which is what a friend in college used to call me!

i use a different username for everything, but i use the same password. i choose my username by my current mood. for instance i was listening to my old favorite song when i made this, so i did a username about music.

i use my real name since i came across a reading material that says the courage to use one's name is a sign that one is true in everything. no offense to those who use nicknames or other names . it's just that i don't want to forget my name in my numerous sites . it's because i try to earn from them .
@beki710 (949)

I wish I could use my name on sites but it's too commen hence me having to put numbers after it.

i would do the same thing too if i were in your situation. however my name, especially its spelling, is not so common and i think i was once mistaken as a male by a parisian somewhere.

Oh well. Username. It was a challenge actually. My name is Ajith. but i tried a pretty good usernames that started with it. But all were already under use. So I got tired and conjured up the most brilliant one I could get! I don't like telling that aloud. So just take a look at my username! Regards, Ajith!

Yup! You said it man. But now I am a kind of used to this. People call me 'Freak' and recently I learned that it's because they liked my name. Ever since that, I felt okay with my username. But still a thought lingers in my mind... I could have used 'ebook_lover', freak was an extra ordinary experience. And yes, thank you for understandingg my feelings. Even I enjoyed responding to your discussion.

Beki, my username story is even more boring! My name is Marcy, and I use Marcyyy or Marcyyyy on all of my sites, otherwise I'd probably forget what it was! On some sites, the 3 y's are already taken, so I just add another y. I should really think of sometime cuter or funny...but then I'd be confused! lol

I mainly use K466 or K46620, otherwise I would be forgetting my name as well. I do keep a spreadsheet to keep things straight, however.

Hello beki710, I don't really have an interesting story why I use my user name right now. When I signed up here, I only thought of how great I felt that time about my life and so, I chose gr8life. Just want to make it a bit interesting and different that I used 8 instead of the full spelling of 'great'. I use different user name for different sites online and most of the time, I jot down all the names in a book.

It's a good idea to keep usernames written down if you have a lot I guess. As long as you don't lose the book!

My user name is an obvious one too and I tend to use it everywhere except my writing sites where I use my full name. I did join a forum once and used a totally made up user name and just couldn't get used to it! I would receive emails with my made up name on them and I would forget it was me! Paula is a relatively short name do it does the job well!

my username here is related to the fact I enjoy the gene of science fiction movies, tv shows, and books. hence scififan while the number is my current age. on other sites I am required to use my e-mail as a username and I may use my first name as a screen name. on one other site I use my shorten first name and the year in the future should I live to be 100 years. I try to pick a differnt screen name for each site. something that would reflect my personailty.

I use the same username on all sites I register. My user name is way far from my real name. LoL!! Chie came from an anime character (from chobits) which I love... I also used that name on online games that I usually play. Pao is the name of my bf.. and he used pao as his name on online games ( yah, im a gamer ,_,) I just combined our names.. nothing special :P and besides it's easy to remember :) happy mylotting beki :D

I do come up with my user name be always the same as it was a joke before from a colleague about being novice at work. That was the time when I started my first job before nobody calls me like it. For me its about being creative and sticking on it, that's why I stick to this name, technoobs.
