What kind of oil do you use in your cooking? We use either a very good quality imported organic extra virgin olive oil, or canola oil. If a recipe calls for butter, I try to use organic butter. We avoid margarine at all costs!

We like to make our own butter, too. We get fresh raw cream from a dairy in a neighboring state. Yum!

well, i'm latin, so i mostly use olive oil! it's great for so many things! dressing, frying... and it's healthier than anyother options! besides, it's also great to cure sunburns, regular heat burns, dry hair, dry skin... it's also used as a stool softner, and it doesn't cause alergic reactions! in my home country, olive oil is the typical cooking base and we are well known for its quality. just check out www.oliveoil.pt

I tend to use canola oil. Most of the time, I just use it to fry something and olive oil is much too expensive for that! Im still not sold on the whole organic thing. I tend to go for local instead. I perfer that my food doesnt travel all the way across the country before it makes it to me! I think that is much more harmful for the environment than non-organic farming! (And I dont believe that organic is better for our health either.)

Depends on the dish. I mostly use palm or coconut oil for most dishes.

It depends on what I'm cooking. I use extra-virgin olive oil most frequently, but I also use canola oil for things that I don't want to taste like olive oil. I also keep around a bottle of sesame oil for cooking Asian dishes. I use butter for quite a few things, especially sauces, but I do use spreads as well. I am very picky, however, and I will only use spreads that are free of trans fats. I would prefer to use butter for everything, but around here butter tends to be quite a bit more expensive than spreadable alternatives.

I use extra virgin olive oil for sauteing. If im frying something like fish or pork chops I use canola oil.
