Ever do something dumb as a kid?

When I was about 10 we lived in a neighborhood situated behind a large grocery store. They had a big fenced in bin behind the store where they tossed their old card board boxes. A group of us kids would go down there, climb up onto the building and jump into the boxes. It was great fun! One day, I went there alone. I climbed up on the store although there were no boxes in the bin. I sat there and thought about it for a bit. I decided (in my 10 year old wisdom) that it wasn't that much further to the ground and the boxes didn't really take up that much space. So I jumped! I injured both of my feet. As far as I know they were not broken but it took me a long time to be able to get up and walk again! They bothered me for a long time! Did you ever do something that when you got grown you looked back and thought, How dumb!"? Would you share?

O yes it was so dumb that I broke my leg. When I was 7 I loved watching movies and I don't rember the name of the movie but its about a nanny that has magical powers and that has an umbrela that she uses to fly. Well I also had an umbrela and I got it and I went out side and in our front door there were four steps so I got to the firt one and jumped and I jump from all four. Every time I jumped I felt that I was flying because the umbrela made me fall a little slower. But four steps was not enough for me so I clibd a small tree and I jumped I was so happy that I was flying like the nanny in the movie. After three jumps from the tree I got on top of our house and I jumped but this time since it was taller it had more time for the umbrela to brake and I was not flying any more I broke one of my lages in half. After I got home family knew why I broke my lage they wanted to tell me that it was bad but I guess it was so funny to them the way I explaind that they started laughing. All I told them was that I wanted to fly like the nanny in the movie and that I did atfirst becuse I had a magic umbrela untill it broke.

Oh man! What a lesson learned from Mary Poppins!! lol!!! Where were all the adults when you were trying out your "magic" umbrella?? I hope we all learn a lesson from your story... we need to be careful what we let our children watch on tv unsupervised!! Glad you are okay!!!

They were inside the house and most of the time they did not have to worry about me becaue I would always be watching Tv or playing something safe. And also I was always scare of hights but not that day with my umbrela. But now I think it actually got worst because I can't get on most of the games when I go to the fair because either their to tall or they go to fast. So I learnd my lesson.

Ahh...so so many dumb things! I was a firebug. One day my friend & I were in a big field and lighting fires and putting them out....just to do it. Well, a good breeze came along and next thing we know, the fire was out of control. we were about 11. We had a tire and we tried beating it down to no avail.finally we raced back to my house and called the fire dept and asked if anyone was burning brush at that location because we were walking by and saw it and it didn't look as if anyone was attending it. we got away with it but when I saw in the paper that it was being "investigated" I panicked. We went back the next day and threw a magnifying glass into the approx. spot that the fire started hoping to solve it for them. bad dumb thinking. the magnifying glass was uncharred just laying there...not too suspicious.

In highschool, I wrote so many dismissal notes signing my moms name that they thought it was HER signature. My downfall was the one time I was legit and really sick and handed in one of her notes....they thought I had signed it Oh you have no idea how much trouble I got in on that one. bad times.

Oh Man, that sucks!!! No one could ever read my mom or my handwriting. We both scribble so bad it really made no difference... but it always worried me when I actually asked for hers!

Lol! That's great! It's funny how our minds work as children! I never figured the teacher would know if I signed my mom's name... I was only 10! You didn't get caught did you?

We got bored so we'd have to find something to intertain ourselfs with and usually it was my borther who'd think of something and for the most part i tested it to see if it'd work because he'd thought it was funny and he was the scared one which if you dared me to do it more than likely i would have done it. Not many dares that i wouldnt do. Even after we healed we done it again LOL but after a while we found something else new to break and arm or leg LOL

I hear ya! I used to get into lots of trouble as well. I used to grease handrails in stariways, write on car windows with shoe polish and lots of "fun" things. I stayed in trouble well into my college years!! :)

The most embarrassing thing I ever did as a kid, that I can recall right now, is asking a somewhat large woman who was not pregnant, "So when's it due?" I still feel bad about that to this day.

It did hurt a lot!! Ugh!! I felt so dumb! I never did tell my parents. I did not jump off anything ever again... at least not without lots of research! It made me be a little more cautious anyway!!

When I was a kid I used to play with the kids in the neighborhood. We took a break as we were thirsty. We went to his home for the water break. I just opened the refrigerator and took out a bottle and started drinking it. I somehow did not like the taste of water. After a few gulps of water, his mother came and told me to put down the bottle. Later on she told me that it was rose water and I had drank at least 150- 200 ml of it. I was so embarrassed at that point of time. I still feel so sad that I could not see the label on the bottle. It was really dumb of me.

IT's odd that you didn't taste something strange in the water or something! At least it wasn't something that would harm you!! Bet you turned as red as a rose when you found out! :)

Hi, mac There was a time when I learned about Neil Armstrong and his trip to the moon. I also saw on TV about the astronaut planting a US flag on the moon. One day, I had this balloon from another kid's birthday party and an idea occurred to me. I made a little flag, pasted it on a small barbeque stick and imagined little astronauts walking on the moon -- which is the balloon. Then I planted the little flag on the moon with great ceremony. BANG! The balloon burst and I was so shocked I could not move for a while. I was also a little deaf for a while. Dumb, huh?

Oh yes, when I was a kid, I liked to go to my mom's office after school. There are some kids about the same age with me too there. So we played hide and seek in the office parking lot. Everybody were trying to hide behind the trees, cars, etc. But I wanted to try something different. I entered the office building and hid in the toilet. None of my friends could find me there and I felt so proud. After about 15 minutes, I wanted to come out, but the door was jammed. I tried hard to pulled it open but failed. I was panic and I started to cry. When my panic increased, I started to scream loudly and asked for help. My mom workmate heard my cry and rushed to the toilet. He kicked the door and rescued me :)

lol! That is a great place to hide! Too bad it ended up badly! I have locked myself in the bathroom before when I was little and my uncle had to climb in the window to get me out! It was scary as a kid.... only funny as an adult!

i remember when i was just 8 or 9 yrs. old. i have a pet hamster and we were playing with it, we put it in the artesian well and cover all the scape hole when we open the hole the hamster is not there i was afraid that maybe it goes on inside the water supply and get drowned, the residence of my barangay has to remove the artesian well and look for the hamster and when they found it that is the only time that i feel relief.

I am glad for the hamster's sake that it was okay!! I don't like that gut-sinking feeling I get when something like that happens! Glad it all worked out!! (for you and the hamster)

long time ago when i was kid..my brother challenge everything to prove me that he were strong and great. he always beat me in all the challenges that we made. so i am very disappointed. so one day when we play at the beach, i had an idea. i challenged him to eat sand. while he refuse to do that, i did eat the sand (but not much, just tasted it). i feel very silly after that but...i think im the only person on earth that have finally eat the sand. wow that is the world record.

yeah i did a lot dumbest thing when i was a kid. some of it i can't remember anymore, one of the dumbest thing i've done most was, when someone was being killed far from our are, i ran to the area and then saw myself the person that was lying there on the ground, i was nearly shocked with what i saw and being tongue tied for how many hours because of what i saw. my parents never know that i went there, and they were just asking why i was so silent the whole day, sitting alone and never talked to them, they thought i was driving crazy.
