children should access the internet at any age but their parents must use suchkind of software so that they cannt use the negative influences scenes or programmes on net.
Parents must advise them their limitations ,advantages and disadvantages to the children politely.
afterwall what they see, that kind of thoughts comes in mind and leads to action.

Well you are right these days there are many sites exposed out there.
We can't even block few of them because they are so many.
If we have to make our children aware about internet these days then there might be a little trouble because children might go on some wrong site.
But I think there should be site certification as there is movie certification.
Because we can then restrict A and U/A certification sites for our children.
But I don't think there is such certification available out there.

Hi friend,
According to me,there is no particular age for the children to access the internet. They can access it at any age.But parents should keep one thing in mind that is,they should observe each and every moment of them in a friendly manner as what they are usually looking at.Now a days internet is playing a vital role in coming era. With internet we can gain lot of knowledge and also we can implement lots of new things. If we make them use for good purpose than i think it is good to access internet otherwise i feel like stopping them from doing it.
Have a nice day

children should be allowed internet access at any time as long as that access is being monitored by someone responsible. if no one wants to monitored the internet access then they should be allowed at age 16 and above. they reason why at 16 and above is because at that age there should be some form of responsibility by that individual.

My niece and nephew have internet access. What my husband did was to block sites that they're not supposed to go to. It's very hard to stop kids from using the internet these days because most research can indeed be done here. There should really be parental or adult supervision when a kid goes online.

I would suppose any age, because you can always put parental controls over it, so you can block all bad sites, and allow them on only a couple! I was able to get acces on the internet, since i was 3!!

Personally, I think it all boils down to taking responsibility for what your children see on the internet. Parental controls DO exist, so that your kid doesn't access anything you don't want them to. However, the golden rule of parenting is always, ALWAYS pay attention to what your kids are doing. All too often, I hear too many stories of irresponsible people who let their kids out of their sites and let them do something that gets them in trouble. The internet/T.V should NEVER be your babysitter.

I totally agree with you. Actually, it would be a good idea for a programmer to make and have properly-marketed (callll me) a child-safe browser for kids of a certain age, with an alternate profile for kids of another age. Each loaded with first toddler bookmarks, and some preschool to k/1 bookmarks. Very simple interface, with a full-screen lock (meaning when you run it, it stays on full-screen until a password is entered by the parent).
Problem solved FOREVER. :)

My guess would be... Maybe 5 to 8 years old. I'm no expert at child development, though. I remember I used computers since 1st grade, so I think it can be used as an educational tool to aid with school work. Perhaps maybe a little earlier than that, just to get the kid prepared for it.
