Personally, I have clinical depression, and borderline personality disorder. So, Im used to being depressed. When I feel myself slipping into that mode, I talk to my fiance, or take my little girl for a walk, sometimes I just write. I have stacks and stacks of notebooks that I turned into journals. That helps me a lot. Im also on antidepressants. I used to cut, but all of these alternatives I just mentioned are helping me stop that.

What you should NOT do is keep it to yourself, or any of the things that seem easier to do. You should deal with an emotion as soon as it comes up... otherwise they will pile together and eventually you will have a depression beyond control. Find somebody, anybody, to unload on! (just be sure to let them do the same when they need to)

I find my friends to talk to about my worries, vent a little. Then I try to find things I enjoy doing have a little fun, Make sure I am eating and sleeping my normal good way. (althought my patterns are not normal to most lol). Make sure I get enough sunlight, and keep myself actively productive.

This time of year many suffer from a type of depression known as seasonal depression disorder. It has to do with the shorter days and lack of sunlight.
The best way to combat the winter blahs?
Tanning Booth! I know it may not be the healthiest of things but it is so nice and warm and relaxing when everything is so cold outside. Not to mention the healthy glow you have for a few days afterwards.
