have you ever had a serious health problem?

have you ever had a serious health problem? how did you cope with it? were you hospitalized? when i was 19, i had diarrhea with mild dehydration. i lost a lot of electrolytes and my potassium was replced and i was put on antibiotics. i was vomitng and i was defecating for almost two days and it got worse. i also had a fever and i thought that it was not really that serious but when i got to the ER/ED i was started to IV fluids and i was monitored. that was one of my experiences being a patient and the other was that i had allergies.... but turned out not to be soo serious. so what are your experiences?
