Quite a year ago i quitting my job at a big company. Many people told me it's not a wise decision, some even tell "are you gone mad?". Most of them give the same opinion, even my family. That because i choose to take new job, not just a new job, also a new company, literally new. This company build just a few month ago, this company don't have its own office, just renting one. But I don't know why I'm interest with this "new guy" I just feel comfort here, feel accepted. I decide to join in, and I think my choose is right. I feel comfortable here, and surprisingly have more income compared to my old "big company" which is pay me only half of my recent income.
Way deep in my mind still have question, is this new company could grow bigger? Is this job last a life time or at least until I'm old and retired. Should I be ashamed with my small rented office or should I proud with my above average income? This question going round & around at my head

I've moved from big to small companies before. Yes I've an increase in salary, but after a while I realised that I've to put what I've learnt to use in small companies but I do not grow in knowledge. I'm not exposed to new technology, up to date products in the industry. That could hinder my growth and career development in the long run.

So that mean you regret your choice. For me, it is basically about which kind of company you join. There are two kind of small company, first is a company who still young or started their business but has potency to grow bigger. Second is a company who already mature but don't have any good progress of their growing plan. In my case I join the first kind of company, so I don't feel any regret. I'm loving my job today, loving my company also, and of course loving the atmosphere on my office.

I am deffatley a small office big income. My office is not that big at all just enough room for my desk a few chairs and file cabinates. I also have a few plants an one small window behind me. I do make over 6 figures a year but you wouldn't think it by the size of my office.

Yeah, i prefer small office too. The important thing about small office is I could be more close to other employee. We're more like a family, who have the same goal to make our company bigger. I feel this company not only belong to employer but also belong to us. It has smaller gap between the employer and employee

Hi flaredust, I like to have a job which I have great interest. I won't feel happy and would feel bored very fast if I just work for the ample wage or just feel proud as a staff sitting in the well designed office in a big company.
I prefer to have a favorite job which I could find satisfaction when working. Of course the salary I have got is enough for my daily consumption as well to have some for saving It's doesn't really important whether the company office or the income is big respectively. I realize how torturing if we have to spend our working hours unhappy and monotonous in the office without any fun and interest day after day
Happy posting

Pheeww! I've been inactive for one long time I forgot to reply my discussion. Anyway, currently agree with you, one thing we search for life is happiness... Unfortunately some people wrongly describe the word happiness as money or something like that. If we work without happiness, passion, and willingness, our life can be like an empty bottle, we change ourselves to a robot. So one of my conclusion about that answer is within our deepest heart, ask it whether that job is fit you or you just pretend to be fit in that job. Find the passion and the success will find you.

I see the point. May be in my unconsciousness I also realize that. Big risk also came with big profit. I take the big risk joining new company, so I will get big profit to, such as become one of the managerial circle when my company grow bigger in the future. Those chance probably could become smaller when I join the already big company. I must crawl the stair one by one, from staff to supervisor, to senior supervisor bla..bla..bla.

Well, big or small, in any job two things is important for yourself. One is the pay enough to run your family and needs, next is the job satisfaction without which we cannot lead a happy life.

Yeah, big or small is doesn't matter as long as we feel comfortable with it. But it's better if we create ourselves a job, if we find it hard to find the right job for us, why don't make a job for ourselves, be an entrepreneur. With that we can easily adjust the job to fit us
