when i was a kid,my parents would always tease me that there is a monster or a ghost in the dark, and they would warn us no to go in the dark.i really believed that before and im soo afraid every time the lights is off.latelt i understand thats their way of keeping us of not going out when it darks, specially in the evening...and its really effective.now that im a grown up,i sometimes afraid in the dark, specially when im alone, the thought of ghosts and evils increases my fear when its already dark, but i can manage my fear now :) what about you,are you afarid of the dark?.:)

During my childhood I was afraid of the dark. There would be times that I would have to have all the lights on or have some light whether it be a flashlight or at least some outside light if possible for me to enter or go in the room. I had a fear that there might be someone in the dark or something scary of that nature. For the most part I have overcame that fear. Now the only part that I am afraid of in the dark is that I can't see and would end up hurting myself by tripping or hitting something.

Yes, during my childhood days, I'm really afraid of the dark.. until now! Haha up to this day. I believe it's because of my wild imagination. Whenever I'm walking in the dark, my mind would always think that there are goblins lurking around the dark and they are going to grab me anytime and eat me. Lol! I even kept thinking that there are red eyes everywhere.. glaring and staring at me. I would always get scared to the max whenever I think of those things so I'll just run off back to the area where there is light again. Quite childish, I know but I grew up like that.. That's it. Happy myLotting!

I am much less afraid of the dark than I used to be... but I definitely still get nervous and sometimes even panicky, depending where I am. When I was young and living with my parents, my bedroom was at the very end of the hallway. I had to pass my sister's room and then my parent's room to get to mine. My dad used to think it was hilarious to go into his room, in the dark, and lay down on the floor near the doorway. He would do this after dinner a lot of the time because he knew that I would go to my room after helping my mom with the dishes. So he would lay there on the floor and wait and, as I would start to pass by, he would yell or make scary "ghostly" kind of noises (like the moaning and "ooooooo" you hear in kids' cartoons lol) really loud! Well it would scare the living daylights out of me EVERY time! I would shriek and run into my room and he would laugh and laugh. He truly thought it was a game and I know he never intended to traumatize me over it (even though my Mom would ask him over and over to stop doing that). All it really did was make me completely afraid of the dark. It got so bad that I would actually run from the start of the hallway to my door and then I would reach around and switch on the light before I would even go all the way into my room. I still do that "light thing", come to think of it... I never walk straight into a dark room... always have to reach around and put on the light first.

I'd definitely have to say that I'm afraid of the dark. When I'm not with my fiance, when we're not going to sleep in the same bed or anything like that, I usually leave the light on. I'm not really sure why, but it's just they way that it is with me. It's difficult to explain where it comes from. I think that it really began last summer.

I am afraid of dark only if I am in a strange place . When I am at a familiar place with others, dark can't scare me at all, especially when I am at home with my family.
However, once I watched a horrible movie in high school, as a consequence, I didn't have the courage to turn off the light when I went to bed for several weeks.I learned my lesson from that experience and never have I seen another horrible movie since then.

im also afraid of the dark as in total darkness. i think most of us do i mean you cannot see, your mind play tricks on you, you will begin to imagine that you are seeing things because you cannot see anything. i really hate it when my mind play tricks on me im not afraid or ghost or monster because i know that it is not true but sometimes your mind can make you believe that you are seeing something that is not there.

No,i am not afraid of the dark, but I do feel funny being at home alone. I am not afraid of sleeping alone.I need complete darkness to sleep and always sleep in total darkness the darker the better.I get scared staying alone in the dark or the house after watching scary movies. I'm trying to shy away from horror movies.

Me too when I was a kid, that's why when ever i go to dark places, my hubby would always go with me. but if times that am just alone i would pray and hold a rosary and use my feet to walk and feel if there's a bumper or a man hole. ghost and evil doesn't evil unless we want to. of course, am still afraid of the dark.

When I am alone I sleep with the lights on so I have to say I am still afraid of the dark, and I still do the run in the darkness to the bathroom in the night hoping that nothing is going to grab me

I do sometimes when at times I have finished watching movies empowering darkness but on a regular basis I don't.
That is when I was a kid they always say there's a ghost or somewhat bad creature if darkness comes. Today that I have grown enough, its like nothing to me.
Basing on the community I live, seems it doesn't need to be afraid since streetlights are there, flashlights are handy sometimes with those techie cellphones there, and seems there's nothing in the darkness. Only the imagination you got in your mind that creates the thing to be afraid of the dark.

yes sometimes i am still scared of the dark, like just when i wake up from a scary dream, i would usually turn a light on and go back to sleep, other wise i would not get to sleep again. its very quiet at night, depending on where you live, but when i hear noises i dont usually hear at night in the dark, sometimes i get scared of what could be in the darkness watching me.

After reading your article, yes I agree. As a kid, we are so noty that parents gets fed up.After repeated warnings we tend to go out at the dark. So,to listen to them is to make us afraid that something is there in the dark.At my adult age I came to know that there is nothing as such monster.

There is nothing more terrifying in the dark then me. And big hairy spiders with claws and bad attitudes.

Well, yeah I used to be afraid of the dark but now as I grew up and all that, I overcame it a bit. Now, I don't usually get afraid unless I see some strange figure or anything like that. When I was a kid I believed in ghosts but I matured up by the time and now I realize about their existance and non-existance and I can differentiate between that.

When I was young, I really was afraid of the dark. During those days, every dark corners or rooms contained ghost, monster and all creatures that may pop out any minutes. I will leave a light on so I can sleep or any of those creature might attack me. Then as I grow older, I no longer afraid of dark places in my house. I even sleep with all the lights switch off. But I still afraid of the dark. Not to those creatures anymore, but human. Now I know those creatures never exist but bad people do.

I was more afraid of what was under my bed and in my closet than the dark but I guess it all went together. If I would wake up in the night having to use the bathroom, I would lay there untill my bladder almost burst because I thought if my feet hit the floor a monster was going to grab me from under my bed. Thank God for night lights lol.
