OK. I am new here. So I guess I should be doing as the Romans do, but I just CANT dammit!I don't have a problem with typos or mispellings...Heck, I have probably made all kinds of mistakes in the last two sentences...but people...PULEEEEZE....!!!!As it is, we barely communicate with each other in our society. Now we talk online. Now we are abbreviating everything online...what is next....online mind reading? I don't need to post the next sentence, CUZ U ALLREDY NO WUT IM THINKING....... Any thoughts on this? Yes I realize that at the tender age of 38 I am elderly and not with the trends...but I just think it would be nice to actually SPELL out the word that U R SPLELIN!!!!GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Kills me when I see this. It is fine when you're texting a buddy on your cell, but not hear. Not anywhere else but on your cell. Ya know, even on the cell it is probably a bad idea because it perpetuates the behavior at places, such as here at myLot. Hannah, you did a great job of it in your subject line. Careful or you might start enjoying it!

I agree with you and I keep after my children to use good grammar. The problem, as I see it, is that, as an information society and being connected mostly by computer, many people will find that their main or only contact with decision makers at work may be via email and bad writing will cause people to question their ability. We make judgments and form opinions about people based upon our contact with them. If my only contact with someone is via email and that person writes like many write on this site they are not going to think much of that person. I once worked with a fellow and my main contact with him was via reports that he submitted. While our relationship was as co-workers and not as supervisor and employee, I kept asking myself how someone that stupid could have been hired. Imagine my surprise when I met him in person and discovered that he was not only very intelligent and a capable worker but he was also an engineer with an MBA. I had pictured him as someone who had barely made it through high school. He just could not write well.
