I recently got a MacBook, and being a windows user for all my life, it does get a little hard to adapt. the shortcuts are different and i'm lacking of certain keys like "delete". Well, i have a delete button but it acts as backspace instead. What about you, what problems did you face with when you first use mac?

I love Apple computers and I did not find the transition hard whatsoever. Mac is so much easier to use and there are no viruses written for Mac, they're all for Windows-based PC's. Im proud to say that, "I don't do Windows!"

Initially it might be a tough learning curve to learn MAC as its entirely based on Unix. But with time you will enjoy it more and more. My suggestion would be explore the Unix aspects pf MAc too , not just the eye candy GUI stuff. Thanks and Take care.

Yes, Mac OS's core makes it extremely versatile. BSD is one of the better branches of UNIX, which is what Dawin (the Mac OS core) is based on.

Darwin, not Dawin.

I personally feel Learning curve of BSD Unix is much steeper than most of the Linux distributions out there ( There are exception off course) So time spend in learning stuff via CLI mode will be more fruitful compared to learning everything from GUI interface. Thanks and take care.

Change to MAc from PC is very simply, is to hard change to Linux from Windows!

Hiya: I had a Macbook and I loved it. You are right, the first week I had lots of issues with the shortcuts. I learned most of them, but unfortunately, after a month having it, someone broke into my house and stoled it. So am back now using and HP with Vista. And it feels like i've downgraded.

I love Macs. That being said, my MacBook Pro hates me. Other Macs do not, though. On a notebook, fn+delete will act like Windows delete.

I believe mac is better than windows. It is lot more simple and easy to work on. there are some limitations with regards to software and hardware but mac provides good customer service. you can contact mac for any issues with hardware and software.
