Don't have enough time on your hands then buy a laptop

No really, i mean it, if you need more free time, just buy a laptop. I have an intel centrino dual core processor laptop with 1gb ddr 2 laptop and 128 video and from the time that i turn it on up to the time when i can actually use it i have time to make a tea or a coffee and go to the toilet. The only thing longer than this is the commercials some television programs broadcast in the middle of the movies.
I should also mention that laptops are terrible for multitasking - while the hardware and the software would support multitasking, the overall heating system is almost always lousy in the sense that if you do to many things at once, it will just shut down and let you dry out...
So how does your laptop behave ? Does it take like forever before it starts ? Does it turn off all of the sudden, making you angry ?

Now? Do I have to buy one NOW? I Have 2 laptops at home, one for me that I mainly use for outbound work and onethat's here permanently for my Wife. I have to say though, that I don't experience these issues you mention at all! Maybe it's because I hug my laptop every morning and tell it how wonderful it is. Do you work on motivating YOUR laptop elitess? Do you make it feel special every day? I reckon it might be feeling unloved and ignored. USED even! The heating issue is probably it's blood pressure rising from all the sadness and stress. Give it a hug, buy it a new accessory and tell it how much you care. They may be laptops, but they too deserve love!

Hi James. I know what the little devil needs - a bran new accessory as you mentioned - a cooling fan to be more precise - but i was kind of hoping my dad would bill it up . Meanwhile i might just buy it myself if i would get too mad at it (the summer is closing in so you know what THAT means - more heat ) and tell him to "discount it" for me

Of course my Wife gets a capital "W" Alice! I do have to LIVE with the woman after all! (Notice "woman gets a small w) In all seriousness though, I use capitals to refer to any person that holds my respect. Parents, Teachers, Wife, Doctor etc. And I never realised PC's were male at all. I see them as way too temperamental to warrant that assumption! lol.

Hi there Apples. I must recommend you that you don't buy a too strong laptop and if you are planning to use it for sophisticated games, forget it as it may overheat even if technically it supports the game - then of course you may not have this problem, or solve it by buying a cooling fan ;)
Thanks for answering :P

I was about to buy a laptop last week... good thing you have posted your discussion about it... now it made me think twice. Your ideas gave me a sense of doubt whether to buy a laptop or just a plain desktop. Thank you bro. and I do miss my bestfriend here in mylot. Hope all are doing fine with you and your girl. God bless

Yes apperatly your right here and asia Laptops are beggining to be an alternative to Desktop PCs but here in the Philippines if you own a laptop you have to have a car or a bodyguard because crime here is exceptionally high so when i have my laptop im gonna always borrow my brothers Toyota Avanza to drive it arround to my destination even though its just a block away .:P

Oh! hahahaha I didnt get what you mean at first, with the relation of time and buying the laptop. Then towards the end it finally dawned on me what you meant.LOL Yeah Im gonna have to agree with you. Sometimes my laptop does start off really slow. But these days it doesnt anymore. It starts out fine. I kinda got rid of those programs that I wont really need daily. If Ill need them again I still keep the installers so I can run them again whenever necessary.
My laptop hasnt shut down on me all of a sudden but it has froze up. Im the one usually turning it off because of it being unresponsive.
Isnt it funny when you dont mind it starting up too long, it would seem to start up quick and whenever you're in a hurry to prepare for a report or presentation, it would start up reaaally slow as if taunting you..?

I have an Advent laptop, and it's always fast!
At the moment, I'm surfing multiple websites, and I am also watching a movie on Media Player, and signed in to MSN Messenger!
It's working perfectly fast for me, I have no complaints.
It sometimes takes a fair while to shut down, but that doesn't really matter, as I've finished with it by the time it needs to shut down!
