Good Luck!
Anyway I think a Lawyer is just like any other profession since every profession should be given respect. How ever big or small, we should learn to respect it. As long as everyone respects a job, there is nothing to be tensed about.
Moreover, you are going to hold the judicial power of the nations within your hands, so you should be a bit responsible. And only fight for the good.
God Bless.

Yes, We should be very practical and selfless in order to attain the maximum honour.
Have you read Godfather written by Mario Puzo?
It talks about corrupt lawsuits and the God father is actually a 'should-be-immoral-gangster' type guy, but he is respected in the society just because he sticks to justice.
I hope you are motivated now.

Very true.
If you make the people who deserve justice into a couple of sitting ducks for the judicial system, you won't gain respect. It's respect that gives honour to your job. And it's truth that should be sustained.

hi! my mom is actually a lawyer and i hate the fact that most people have negative perceptions about them. once, when i was in elementary, my teacher told some negative remark about lawyers and that really pissed me off. i came to think about it and realized that if my mom were the type of lawyers who bribes or who cheats just to make her side win, maybe we would be rich now.. but honestly, we're not. my mom have been serving in government for almost 25 years and never in our lives have we experienced comfort or ease in day-to-day living. so it really annoys me when people say things about lawyers because NOT ALL of them are bad. maybe there are some, but they should not generalize it. some lawyers are honest enough with their jobs and they deserve RESPECT with what they are doing. i really think it's not fair to think about people negatively..they should first look at themselves before judging others. heck, they don't even know what big decisions lawyers make when presenting a case or something.
just like you, i also plan to be a lawyer just like my mom. my mom's honesty in work has inspired me to become one, and the fact that people look down at us and discriminate us just inspired me to bring justice to this kind of bias and thus, made me think of being a lawyer.. but i'm not really serious about pursuing law studies since i have many choices in college :)
so anyway, my advice is to be just and honest in your profession, and don't mind about others having wrong judgments about lawyers :)

It depends on who you ask, really. I am not ready for law school yet, but I am working towards it myself. I guess I am a Perry Mason or Matlock kind of lawyer truth be told. The whole truth and nothing but. I have very good idea of what kind of law I want to practice, probably family law as this can be very rewarding but demanding as well. I cannot see myself as only writing up wills and contracts, boring!!! :). jk. If a person is truly innocent then I will go the ends of the earth to find that truth to be able to prove it in court, if guilty then the best possible deal I can make. This is the true duty of every trial lawyer to seek out the truth and only the truth no matter how ugly it gets and always stay true to your values.
