Late last year, I started a discussion about whether I should dye my hair on my own or have it done in a salon. I ended up doing it at home and had my sister do it for me :D
I used "hot ginger" which sounds strange I know, the end result was a lighter color of hair (but only slightly) that glows red under the sun. That seems too subtle for me now that I know more about dying hair.
I'm asking for your suggestion - what hair color do you think would be good to try? Any suggestion would be nice :D I'll google up the suggested hair colors and note them down. Thank you!

Burgundy sounds interesting - it's a darker shade of red than I have right now. Actually right now, the red is almost non-existent on my head. A more showy red seems like a good choice - I'll check if it matches my skin tone first :D I don't want to look like my head was on fire or anything.

Deep brown or burgundy should be nice and safe colours.
Hair colour should basically complement our complexion colour and dressing style. I think you should keep these in mind while choosing the colour, otherwise you may end up looking like an alien like me when I coloured my hair light brown and it just stood out in fluroscent colours against my wheatish complexion and subdued dressing.

Recently, I have been a fan of the color "red". Its nice when it is applied to asians with semi-light skin tone. You may want to try it..:)

I started dying my hair by myself my freshman year in high school and now I'm in college and still dying my hair and there have been some things that I have learned about dying hair.
For me the first color I choose was auburn and since my hair was a dark brown I had to actually slowly step down to strawberry blonde in order to get a medium auburn color to show. And the more you dye you hair, the more the color isn't going to turn out what you want it to be because of all the stuff that has been in your hair.
Then this past year I went back to brown but did a slightly darker brown with a tint to it so it wasn't as dull as my natural color and I know now I can't go back to a lighter color unless I go to a salon and get the color stripped from my hair first which is going to damage it tremendously.
So the best thing to do is probably to do it at home because I will always believe paying $40-100 to get your hair done is a disgrace - but when choosing your color be leery. Check your skin tone and try to see what colors have worked on people with the same skin tone - you still want it to look natural. And then decide whether you want a dark or light color, because if you do go dark do worry about hating it and then having to wait and spend a ton of money getting it fixed.
