how much time we should wait to mark any response as best response ?
&
what type of response we should mark as best .
did we mark that response as best which is highest commented.
or
we should mark that response as best which is not much commented but has nicely written.
how much time do you wait if you stop getting more responses.
pls discuss this briefly.

I would usually wait at least a week, very often longer. You need to let responses to the discussions slow to a trickle before considering which might be the best response.
I try to see which response really is the best and most apposite. If someone has gone to the trouble of writing more than just a brief description (which I would describe as only an 'adequate' response), they are more likely to get BR from me. Very often a good response encourages more discussion in the way of comments. That is what I define as 'quality'.
Sometimes it is very difficult to choose a real 'Best' and then I try to be fair to the people who regularly respond to my discussions with good responses and give BR in rotation.

if the post is written briefly & dont contain the repition of words ,
than it really deserves the best ,
& it is also good that if we dont find any good response for many weeks ,
we should mark the the BR to whom who has responded good to our other discussions.
either we have marked BR previously of not.
thanks for this tips owlwings ,
& thanks again for responding once again.

@shree krishna..i do agree with you coz some people on mylot used to write such unwanted materials just as to increase the length of response..n repetation of words must b avoided as a persons loses his interest as soon as wrds are repeating..
keep posting
gudday...

In the FAQS we are told:
'Do not select a best response right away, wait at least a week before choosing a best response. This will give myLot users plenty of time to respond to your discussion topic and will give you a variety of responses to choose from.'
http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq8.aspx#17
but I very often wait much longer, especially onthe discussions where I have many rsponses. I find it difficult to choose just one that is better than all of the others so I have several dicussions where I have not chosen one yet.

I don't start many dicussions but I do comment back to those who respond so that might be one of the reasons my discussions have many responses
I am happy to see that you are now commenting much more than before too - I have a feeling you are enjoying myLot more too recently!

i started this ,
after seeing you & your comments only ,
you build a good presence & make them as the real discussion , that's the best way.
& due to smilies also.

I would wait for a couple of days to get a good amount of responses before choosing a best response. The best response would be the one that you think is best. The one that really answered your question and seemed to put a lot of thought in the answering of your question.

I agree with the first responder but also you have to see and read all of the responses to see which part is actually good and close answer to your discussion. you don't really have to choose one if there isn't there yet and from what i know, you don't get to earn when you choose, it's the one you choose that earn something. so choose the right best.

hello puneet ,
the best discussion is as per you mentioned should contain more responses ,
but each response or when many of the responses are highly commented in it ,
then authur re-replies & commenter re-reples is the best discussions .
each response should make a new thread till the point come , that is the best ,
dont take it that i am teaching , but only sharing my views.

i think we should wait to get more responses, and when we see that our discussion seems to don't get anymore responses to mark the best response.when i mark a best response(i recognize that i didn't make this too often as i always forget to), i mark the one which i found more interesting and suitable on that subject

actually, shreekrishna,
it's best to wait for a long time so that everyone can get a chance to respond to your discussion since marking best responses are a very important thing and you have to be sure that the right person gets it, otherwise some people are discouraged, that's why i wait for a long time before my discussions are commented on a lot, if the discussion stops getting resopnse, I mark a best response, it doesn't depend on whether the person got the most comments, becuase comments can be given just for fun and not mean anything in discussing the matter you are talking about, but the best response is awarded to that person who writes in the best quality and whom you think is the best responder to your discussion, for example, if there is a discussion about the ingredients of baking pancakes, just typing that you need flour and sugar won't do it, you shall have to post the whole thing, you need flour, sugar, eggs, milk and so on, a response needs two qualities to be marked as the best response, first, the quality of the response should be excellent and then it should be to the point, it doesn't really matter how huge someone has written a response, like mine :) anyways,
Happy-Mylotting

After a week you can chose your best response, if you are contented to the answer of your responded so you can decided who would you like to pick you can also wait to chose wisely and nice and to have more responded.

you were doing a great job ,
but ,
if you had gotten the response from that person is only one good ,
then also you will search about her/his other responses .
i m not saying that you were doing wrong , just only a question.
