in my opinion, there is no "the best"! there are many good football players during every period, each one of them has their merits. every year, there are many awards designed for the players, but only one could be the shinning star and known by more and more people. there is really some people better than else, but in my eyes, there are too many "grest players" in the world to choose "the best". what make me admire those is the spirit on them. that's all.

Every players has golden era. I think the best player of all time is player who serve for his country (national team) for a long time, because it indicate that he was believed to do his task on the field. I choose Dino Zoff (Italian Goalkeeper) serve his country in the age 40+.
Please response my discussion about euro championship 2009, Barcelona Vs Manchester United!:)

Out of two players Maradona and Zidane.
Maradona - he drove his team on to win the World Cup almost single handedly. There were other good players in the team but nobody came close to performing on Maradona's level.
Zidane - his touch, vision and all-round ability were second to none. At Ream Madrid during the galacticos era, all the other world class players knew he was the best (I think Beckham was the one who said that). Extremely elegant for a tallish man (6'1), did everything so effortlessly.
Lionel Messi will be joining these two as a front runnre for the best player of all time.
