How do you feel that first time each month when you first notice you're bleeding?
I suppose some women feel disappointed that they're not pregnant. Some may feel relieved that they're not pregnant. Some may just be annoyed that they have to deal with their period symptoms for about a week.
What do you feel when your period comes around?
I normally just feel annoyed. However this month, I'm feeling relieved!! I have an IUD, so I shouldn't get pregnant, but I've thought that many times before too. Things have been going smoothly for 16 months, but a few days ago I noticed some pregnancy symptoms that had me a little worried. I couldn't remember when my period began last month, so worried that it could be late. So I took a pregnancy test that came back negative... phew! My period began today! I need to speak to my doctor about a more permanent form of birth control!

No it isn't fair. Men don't have to go through pregnancy or child birth either. I think every man on earth should be brought back as a woman, and every woman should be brought back as a man. We should have to experience both sides of the spectrum before moving on into the after life.

Thats very true but if we did come back as men and vice versus how would we remember what happen in the life before?

I just wrote an article about birth control and IUD's are just as effective as the pill. they are the most effective reversable birth control that there is so I wouldn't worry about getting pregnant. as for me, I have had 5 children and lost one almost 5 years ago. as far as I am concerned the factory is closed! I get annoyed with my period because I mostly find it a nuisance, I don't want any more babies (unless they are grandchildren) and sometimes I just wish it would end already! i also get horrible mood swings and back aches before I bleed and I will not miss that.

This is not the hormonal IUD, it's the copper one. There have been stories of women who've gotten pregnent when the IUD moved out of place. Nothing is 100% except abstinence and menopause! I have 5 children as well, and lost 2.

why don't you try the shot you get every 3 months, that worked well for me. I didn't want to do anything permanent even after 6 pregnancies.

I just get annoyed. As you read in one of my posts that you responded to earlier today, I get my period every 2 weeks or so. I did get put on BC pills a few weeks ago and I am hoping that those will regulate things.
I had my tubes tied after my daughter was born, so the thought of being pregnant is not something I have to deal with.

A really good friend of mine had her tubes tied
and then her system got all messed up.
She told me that her hormones were way off
and she had lots of break through bleeding.
Hysterectomy is not for every woman,
that's for sure.
So much easier for a man to recover from the operation.

That's not always true BeautyQueen. My husband didn't recover from his operation for almost a year. He got a huge hemotoma in one testical that was extremely swollen and painful, and it didn't heal for a long time. Then, after all was said and done, it didn't even work for him! I got pregnant again after all that!
However my friend who got her tubes tied recovered in just 3 days.

Smart choice. I was supposed to have my tubes tied after the twins were born.. actually it was supposed to be done the same day, but they had emergency c-sections that day and couldn't get to me, then my insurance expired.
When I got pregnant for my toddler I told my hubby to get fixed, and he did. But then I got pregnant again! Hubby's vasectomy didn't work. So.. I asked my docs about getting fixed again, but now they don't do it in the hospital. I would have to wait 8 weeks. Well hubby used up all his vacation time when the baby was born. Then I had to choose between getting my gall bladder out, or getting my tubes tied. I chose the gall bladder and hubby used up his personal time for that. I got the IUD to buy some time.
I want to look into that essure.

I just view it as part of life. Not too thrilled with the cramps and the occasional headache. Glad things turned out the way you wanted.

Add me to the list that's annoyed about it. I figure we are done having kids & I had to have a c-sect couldn't they of just removed the whole kit and kaboodle? I know they won't because of hormonal reasons & vanity I suppose you could say. But yeah I don't want anymore kids, despite enjoying being pregnant the risk of me running another c-sect is very high and there's no way in H E L L I want to do that again! So why not just let you say bub-bye to your pear shaped friend? Hubby is now fixed but I still worry bout getting kocked up again.

I am lucky in a way as I do not have to worry about all that anymore, I had a hysterectomy nearly 3 yrs ago now so I do not have the monthlies to worry about and I have four kids so I think I have plenty!! I still get the annoying symptoms though and funnily enough it is always still the same time as I would have had my period so I am still as regular as clockwork!

hi katsmeow! ^^
i always feel relieved at the same time annoyed when my period comes. relieved because i always want it to come regularly because irregular period is not healthy. so they say. i always get worried when it comes late. even just a few days late. i'm still young and i wouldn't like irregularities within my body especially concerning the reproductive system. ^^
but i also feel annoyed too at times. especially when it comes at a bad timing. usually when it comes late. that's always a bad timing. usually it would come at a time when i'm supposed to go somewhere far and i would have to travel very long. i don't like traveling with my period. i always feel uncomfortable. there was also a time my period came when we were heading off to the beach. i couldn't swim because of it. ^^;;

I'm usually ok with it unless it comes right before we have plans. It usually tends to come right before the weekend and we usually have something fun planned that makes it harder when you have to deal with the time of the month. But, knowing that I'm not pregnant makes it a little easier to except. My husband got a vasectomy so I don't worry too much about being pregnant. I still worry a little though because you always here those stories about people getting pregnant even though one of them was "fixed" lol. And there are just as many people who get pregnant while on some other form of birth control. I think I'm in the clear though.

I am one of those people who got pregnant after one of us was fixed. My husband had a vasectomy while I was pregnant with my 4th child. When he was 10 months old I found I was pregnant again. I've also gotten pregnant while on birth control before. I've heard stories of women who had an IUD and gotten pregnant, and it seems it would be just my luck for that to happen to me.

I will tunr this around a bit. When my periods became irregular, I had the hormone tests etc and my doctor went into a long discussion about how women who are going through menopause 'grieve' for their periods. I had a male doctor back then - I am wiser now. I looked at him and told him that I after having 4 children and 5 miscarriages I wanted to celebrate that I was going through menopause. I certainly had not any intention of grieving!~ I went on a low dosage of HRT for about 2 years and apart from one hot flash there were no other symptons, It was great!
Yes, I can understand your relief and you need to look at your options - like insisting your husband gets a vasectomy!

My husband already had a vasectomy... before I got pregnant with my last child. It didn't work, obviously, and he refuses to go through it again. I will eventually get my tubes tied or something, I just don't have the time or money for it right now. That's why I got the IUD, it's supposed to be good for 10 years so it's buying me some time.

Luckily my periods don't last too long and I dont get abd stomach cramps either. I am on the pill so know exactly when my periods start and stop. I do get annoyed when I know its that time of the month, but I would rather have my period rather than having the scare thinking that I might be pregnant.
Since I have been on the pill I have only ever been late on my period once and I had to also do a text but it came back negative. If your not comfortable with the IUD you should definately talk to your GP about trying another birth control method.

I'm not unhappy with the IUD, but I have gotten pregnant while on birth control before. Actually I was on birth control each time I became pregnant... except the last time because we thought my husband was fixed. Oops!

If its my time of the month I will be happy.
It's the sign that I will not be pregnant.
Im happy for having monthly period rather to have
a sign to have a baby soon. I'm worried for it because
I am not ready this time. It takes more years to come
to long to be pregnant. Im renewed and fresh after the monthly
period seems like my blood circulation is starting to be
clean.

Since I am on the pill, my periods are very regular and that’s the only redeeming factor here. I’ve been bleeding since 9yrs and now in my late 30s I guess I’m looking forward to this whole drama of a week, ending forever. So you can well understand that annoyance is the first and only emotion I feel about this…pregnancy is no longer a thought so I’m now kind of fed up with this.

I never looked forward to the time of the month. It meant for me that it was a week feeling very bloated and uncomfortable. At times, I had bad pains. A few times, I would double over in pain.
I had been pregnant 2 times, and really enjoyed not having a period.
It got to the stage that I had enough of taking the birth control pill. I wanted my tubes clamped. I had been talking to people who had it done and they had said it was the best thing they had done when they decided not to have any more children.
For me the period, got worse and more frequent. Some times even would last for 2 weeks. I got so depressed over it.
I then decided to get a hystorectomy done. The best decission I have ever done.

Im just simply straight out annoyed, though there's been a few times I was relieved.
But that time of the month before and during is the worst for me. Well that's good your pregnancy test was negative..I know that feeling!

I do not have tha experience of contraception, not to worry about pregnancy.Read you write the birth control,I just heard, the basic lack of understanding.Since the first got my period,I always about,my periods was irregular, and every time t the first day,I must leave to have rest.Dysmenorrhea, volume and more I will feel the entire collapse,a cold sweat.Irregular periods, also I have no way to avoid, because there had been three periods one months, three months there were no time.I was pregnant with my son, then I do not know myself. In fact ,I would like to have another child, but it seems to be a dream,it is difficult to achieve.

I always feel annoyed whenever it is that time of the month. I hate it when my stomach aches. My cramps always are the worst during the first two days. There are times my stomach aches so much because of the cramps that I just lie in bed for hours during the afternoon. To add, it is such a hassle to always be conscious if there is blood on my pants or something. That happened to me twice already and it was so embarrassing.

Mixed feelings, I am happy that I am not pregnant, but at the same time I would really like to have one more child.. After those mixed emotions go away its time for all of the symptoms to kick in. Then I pray that the cramps are not so bad... The first full day is the worst for me, major major cramps, tired, just want to stay in bed kind of feeling... then the days to follow it tends to get better... I hope the IUD works for you, I have heard of it, but never used it myself..Good luck
