Hello all.well we all know Americas going through some tough times right now.
My husband was layed off last week for the 3rd time this year(and the years barely started). We have three children 10,4,& 3.I don't think they've really noticed anything different yet,but with school about to let out my oldest will be wanting to do things.thats when it's gonna really hit. When we dont have the cash to do any of the fun things we always do in the summer. My younger ones probally wont be as affected.
I was just wondering if any of you have noticed an affect on your children?
thanks 4 replying.

I hope your husband will have a job soon. Goodluck with that.
More or less, my oldest who is 5 years old noticed why we are not going out to eat on the weekends anymore, why she doesn't get toys anymore if we go to a store or why we didn't drive to Florida to spend the holiday with her grandparents (this was the time when gas was $4/gallon). She was asking if we can go to Seaworld this summer but I already told her we can't because we don't have a budget for it.
As early as now, I already am telling my daughter about certain things like saving and why Daddy needed to work overtime or sometimes work on the weekend instead of spending it with us. Although, I don't divulge everything to her but she got an idea and I am instilling in her to be thankful and be content of what we have at the moment.

I think its great that you make your daughter aware of whats going on.We've talked to our older son and he seems to understand. He seems ok that we have to tighten the belt and is already coming up with ideas of things we can do for fun for free!

well, hubby and i have our jobs still but he has taken a pay cut so we are not doing as much as we used to do. i hope with our couple of garage sales that we can make a little bit of money to go out for ice cream. we will go to the beach still (its free for us) so thats good.
