I always seem to get the urge to write, when I should be doing something else. Every time I decide to go to bed, when I need to clean, or even when I need to be focusing at work, my brain starts encouraging me to write. I love writing, but there are more appropriate times for me to work on my writings. Just curious when do you guys feel like writing?

I always get the urge to write at the most inopportune times. Usually it's at work, when I'm supposed to be focusing on important things like sales and customer service. Sometimes I get the urge at two in the morning. One of the things that always gives me the urge to write is taking a long walk.

I get the urge to write whenever opportunity to answer a discussion here at mylot. I do them mostly by picking those are most discussed to the least whenever possible. Not all of the discussions that I gave posts and comments, only that interests me.

I wrote so much when I was younger into my older teens but then as I got older I had the urge to write but it was more about note-taking and I was constantly take notes from something. I still do this but I've returned to my journal writing and just drop everything when I get the urge to do it beause its like so much pours out of me and its like it takes no effort but me holding the pen. Very different from when I used to try to set a time to write in my journal and nothing ever came and I abandoned it for months.
Another thing I do is to carry a notepad with me EVERYWHERE I go, advice I read time and time again from other writers I've read and never took their advice. I was always buying notebooks in the past that were too big to fit into my purse and I just justified that by a notepad would be too small and I would have a bunch of notepads that didn't help me at all. I started making a point of periodically taking my notes from my notepad and putting them into a notebook. When I get even more eage I will type all of these out and make them into my own personal book to reference to. I think this system works wonders for me and has suprisingly helped me get more organized as I split things up into categories.
I always have jokes that come to my mind I jot down, favorite quotes, muses I get when Im smoking, books that I read about in free magazines or elsewhere, passages from books, ideas. All these things help my writing because if I just let them go without writing them down I would be 'trying' to remember them for a later time and my mind just becomes one big clutter. I swear minds are like computers, a little desktop cleaning speeds things right up.

I find that walking stimulates my mind when I'm out getting some fresh air and exercise. If I think of something I have started to write, the ideas start to flow and I can't wait to rush home and write.

You seem to be quite blessed with the urge to write. This shows a lot about you. You seem to be a good writer. What have you written till now? How do you manage to get a wider readership for yourself? Please let me too know it so that it will help me too, to get a taste of success, just like you.

It usually happens to me when;
(A. I have no access to the computer, or paper.
OR:
(B. Right before I need to head to bed or get off the computer and do something.
=o I usually just roll with it and find a way to write anyway.
There's no real scheduling to creativity.

Hi Jasmina, same here, whenever I was busy with something else, I had the urge to write. But when I switched on the computer, the urge to write flew out of the window, so I ended up surfing net and wasting a lot of time.
Sometimes have to force myself to start writing. Once started to write, will always complete the article within an hour.

I love writing and I write short stories, I write articles too for newspapers and on helium to get paid, I feel it is just because I have been reading for a long time and this urge to write has taken over, I write when I feel I can do something very good, but everyday I manage to jot down some lines for my short stories.

I can so relate with you. I will have writers block all day then when I go to bed my mind can't shutdown and I keep thinking and before I know it I'm jotting down stuff on a pad. If I have a really good story thought that is just pouring out I get up and start writing.

I used to get the urge to write when I get bored, very sad and disappointments, cleaning, and happy moments. I usually write blogging and journals. Sometimes, I write it everywhere like post it. When I feel bad, I usually write long articles maybe in 2 -5 pages or more. More like fiction stories...hehe

I can most definitely relate to this! I get the urge to write at the strangest times, like when I'm in the middle of a shower I'll get this awesome line and i just HAVE to write it down, so then I jump out, freeze my butt off finding a pen and paper, and then get everything soaking wet in the mean time. xD
I, personally, believe that my muse is a very vindictive character. He just sits back and waits until the worst times and then strikes with a creative thought. When I'm falling asleep, too, I tend to get great ideas, which means that I'll be up for the next 2 hours writing them when I should be sleeping.
