Do you train your dogs to do activities that they are not bred to do?

My dog is a border collie, so he is a herder by breed, but at a young age, he tended to want to run with our hunting dogs. At first, we discouraged it, but soon he became the best tracker and tree dog in the group. I was just curious, does any one out there train dogs to do something other than there breed intends?

My dog is a Bouvier, also a herder by breed. You have to train or let them do things that are not natural to their breed. He is obediance trained, track trained, he hunts but unlike a hunting dog he knocks everthing over he is a big boy. If u don't train them or let them do other things they get BORED, a bored dog is no fun...
REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV YOUR DOG/PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U

I've two dogs, boxer and bulldog. I take them to the park for walking inorder to mingle with other dogs. My boxer is very friendly and he likes to play. He play with any breeds of dogs despite of age. He is very obedient and smart and listen to any commands from me.
My bulldog doesn't mingle with all dogs. he likes play with small breeds like pug, bassethound and other bulldogs. he is very obedient but not friendly.
