Why the negative stereotype?

Honestly, I want someone to explain why the term 'D&D geek' is used in such a perjorative way. Whats wrong with enjoying a game? A game that, incidently, utilizes your brain far better than, say, football..

I too enjoy that game. There is nothing wrong with it. Infact, its ironic that many of the "gamers" who would call it a geeky game ended up playing D&D online when it came out. Its a fun and unique experiance, i wish more people were around my area to play with though. Nobody plays in my area at all :(
