Have you ever donated blood? What was your reason for choosing to do so? Would you do it again?

I tried giving blood once about 15 years ago. I passed out midway through the pint. It was for a blood drive at the VA hospital. No, I wouldn't do it again unless there was a terrible emergency because I'm a little phobic about it now.
My DH has a friend that gives plasma twice a week. He does it for the money they pay. I think it is somewhere in the range of $200/month. He doesn't seem to mind doing it.

How do you get into that? That would be nice to have an extra $200 per month....

I'm not really sure how he found out about it. Maybe on a bus, or the yellow pages, or on the radio? I'm sure if you did a bit of digging you could find something similar if you live in or near a metro area. I think the place he goes to is called a plasma center.

Maybe you can find someplace near you on one of these sites.

I have never donated blood, but have thought about it. The main reason holding me back is that I am no good around blood, especially my own. A little cut or scratch is not a problem, but wheneve I have to get blood tests done I feel really weak and sick like I'm going to faint. My mom and sister are the same way. Sometimes even thinking about it makes me feel queasy.
