Tell me what you would do if you are in my situation.
Tomorrow I am going to take an entrance examination for graduate studies. I have a strong belief that if ever I am going to study again and get some Masters Degree, I would be more competitive out there in the jungle. I would be more saleable. FYI, I am turning 27 this July, but I have this feeling of being unfulfilled. It seems that I haven't accomplished anything in my career, No one can say that I am not a good worker. I know I am because most of my previous employers want me back in their company even if I resigned to them more than a year ago. I am currently employed in a good-standing international company. But everyday it seems that I have to force my self just to take a bath and be at work. Why is it like that? During the selection process of this company I was so enthusiastic about this. But now I have it in my hand and all I have to do is enjoy this, why is it so hard to enjoy this work. Now, I have been working here for 5 months there's this question that keeps popping in my mind, "Do I really want/like this job?" The work per se is not hard as it is purely clerical and boring. Please give me some advice on this. I don't want to be unfair, the company is nice, the people are nice too. the salary is fairly enough. Why am i feeling like this?

It is mostly you work is lack of excitement and adventure. You said that you work in clerical field. Well that is indeed a boring work for me..Right now I am working at a contractor company, although they pay me less than what my qualification should get, but I still work there because everyday is a challenge for me. Like everyday has something for me to learn. Clerical works might not your taste, that's all.

Maybe it's because you don't find your work challenging. As you said, you like the people there and the pay, but the work you're doing is boring. I think you need a little challenge in your work. How about going proactive and asking your boss if he or she can give you some additional work when you have the available time? Just a suggestion. Good luck!

hi, thanks for your immediate response.
i've done that so many times, not only to my boss but also to my fellow officemates.
i think you are right in saying tha i need a little challenging work.
do you have anything in mind other than sales. you know I am not really much of a seller, so sales and marketing work is also not for me.

Hi i know exactly how you feel. I ask the same thing whenever i go to work. In my case I like the people in my work but the job is something that i know i am doing very well but i know that it's not something that gives me satisfaction and enjoyment. It's like a safe place for me, and i know that is not good enough. Even if the pay is decent and the people are great it all comes down to what makes you happy. What are your hobbies? are you into web designing? programming etc.? it is clerical in someways because you get to code stuff and a bit challenging too. I think you should find a field that you enjoy doing like your hobbies :D
