My room mate was reading the local newspaper today.. And she told me that I need to read this, "Soldier in Afghanistan charged in harassment". I was like what you have to be joking... Here is the article from my local paper:
"Charges of invasion of privacy have been filed against a man currently serving overseas after he allededly violated an order of protection filed by his ex-girlfriend. Police filed the charges after the man (whom I will not name, its not fair to him or his family) called the woman on Friday from his base in Afghanistan. The phone call violates the order."
First of all he is over seas.. Does a restraining order cover this? Second point this man is over there fighting for us, and we are going to send him home for a phone call... Lets get real here, people in the military can only call home once and a great while... So if the man knew that he had a restraing order against this woman, do you really think that he would waste the call to someone that does not want to talk to him? I also think that its wrong that this woman would even call the cops on this man, just tell him that there is an order of protection, and tell him not to call again... to call the cops.. cant you give the guy a break, he is fighting for your freedoms... DOES THIS NOT MEAN ANYTHING TO PEOPLE ANY MORE??!?? Unfornatuly some of our TROOPS die on a DAILY BASIS... and a phone call.. The other memebers of his squad are missing his help.. what is more important, a day in court or a soldier doing their duty on the battefield? This is crazy... The men and women that wear a uniform should be commiended not put behind bars, by the country they love and are willing to shead their blood for... Personally I find this very dishearting... What are do you think? and please be respectful they do a lot that we dont give them enough credit for.

Alright here, as you know I have several thoughts on this subject. One I just realized something, if the soldier did not have the papers given to him about the restraining order, it can't be enforced. Now we pay for his return to go to court to find this out, what a waste of time and money.
The other thought I had was this, if he did know and he called anyway, wonders if this was away to get away from where he is oversears. Many are there and many once they get there don't want to be there, that is a fact.
As far as conduct of the men in our services, it all needs to adhere to the laws they are fighting for, no more than that. I am against physical harm of another human being so wars well .. nope don't need a book written here..lol

If the soldier was never given the papers to begin with, then he should be taken away from the were he is serving... There are others that need he's help over there, can you imagine the shock if this was just some false aligations? How would the soldier feel? (Unforantenly) Especially if there was a fight, and one of his buddys didnt make it through... That would be something weighing extra hard on that persons heart, untill that soldier was finally laid to rest... Honestly I think there should be something done, if a soldier did something wrong, yes that person should go in front of the court system... Hey wait a mintue... would this be something that JAG be dealing with?? Granted it is just a tv show, but I know that there is something like that in the Army... Something really sounds fishy about this whole thing...

Well I have no idea what to say. But I have thought about this and I will say that I am glad I don't have to be the judge jury or exsecutioner. (spelling). I don't know why the person has a restraining order but I do believe they aren't just handed out of gum ball machines for a quarter. I think that it could be overlooked however, if the holder of the restraining order felt it necessary to contact authorities... I still am glad I am not the one having to make a order concerning the lack thereof of the restraining order being broken. Especially from over seas. In this case all I can say is I will pray for both parties involved. That is as far as the restraining order and the lack of following it. On the other hand I am still praying for all since we do all need it. I also thank God for the soldier having gone overseas to begin with. If he makes it back in one piece I hope he conducts himself according to our laws here. God Blesses! Sandy

To be the judge that hears this case, I am so glad that I will not be siting inthat seat.. Once the national media get a hold of this one, well it will be on every new channel, exploited just like everything else that is going on in this country... I just pray that it was worth it, i mean pushing the restaining order...
