Housework has always been a shared responsibility in our home and so we all do it. In earlier days when I was working off the farm and my husband was farming he used to look after our son plus help with the housework too. These days we are retired, so that makes it more important that we share it. There are no clearly defined things that each of us is responsible for, except when it comes to vegetables and then my husband is the one who peels them. Also vacuuming or sweeping the floor - he does those just in case I fly away on the broom. LOL

The other good thing is that by my husband sharing in the household duties, our son learnt a great lesson as well. He (son) can and does look after himself, can cook, clean, iron, etc although when he is home with us we generally do most of it. Hopefully, with all his training one day he will make someone a good husband. LOL

That is wonderful! It's nice to see happy couples share in chores. I think that is part of what keeps marriage harmonious.

not unless i force him too. his main job is taking the trash out at night, but sometimes he falls asleep and doesn't do it for a few days...then he just says if i want it done so much, i should do it myself. the fact that i have to walk out of the appartment complex and to the parking lot to the dumpster to take the trash out...and i watch 2 kids and don't want to leave them alone...i ask him to wash the dishes, because i don't feel well, and he'll wash it maybe a week later. he says okay, but he said he'll do in on his own time.

My husband does help out with housework. Sometimes I almost have to beg him to get it done. But overall he does a good job. He usually takes care of washing and drying the laundry. He sorts it into baskets, then brings it upstairs and I fold it and we put it away. I am a stay at home mom, so I usually take care of the dishes and cooking. We pretty equally share the vacuuming.

Mine will occasionally mop or sweep. If the dishwasher is full, he will run it and/or empty it. Other than that he does as little of the housework as he possibly can. He says he is responsible for the outside and I am responsible for the inside.

My husband works so hard outside the house, and is 70 years old, that I don't want him to do anything. However, if I do ask, he will vacume, do laundry, or do the dishes. He is the best.

Well its not my husband but my boyfriend helps clean. I usually do the dishes and laundry but he sweeps and mops. He does most of the cooking too, so I can't complain.

It is a little. just a little. Maybe you can give him some incentive. I feel for you. I don't think what my hubby does on the weekends is much help either sometimes. Thanks for your response.

No my husband does not help with the chores. Unless I ask him, he'll take the trash out. He does most of the cooking. But he is the one that work's and I stay home, so I really don't ask him to do too much cleaning. Oh yeah, he clean's the shower/bathtub. Thank God for that.

i make my partner help me clean up, if he doesn't then i won't speak to him for maybe a day or so! he was very lazy before tho now he will occasionally do the dishes but that's my job now because he cooks the meals but he HAS to clean the cooker because as i say he's the only one that cooks and gets it dirty so he should clean it up after himself hehe!!

I agree! everyone should clean up after themselves. My hubby is kind of messy, but he is getting better at cleaning.
