Do you instigate your cats (in a playful way) ?

I am always playing with my cats I think it is like a routine with the 2 younger girls now. I will shower missy and spunky with attention by picking each of them up and giving them kisses and talking to them like babies it is funny but missy (fluffy silver point siamese)will take off after I am done with her and chase spunky (white fluffy manx cat). Do you do things to get your cats to play in the day?
