As the financial downturn bites or whatever government speech people come up for in reality its a recession with contracts available in Iraq and Afghanistan do you think OFWs should be allowed to go there for work?

Even with the economic downturn... i don't think it is worth it to send Filipinos to Iraq and Afghanistan because of the great danger it pose to work in these two countries... and it will be our government's responsibility to ensure OFW safety there... and that can be a very expensive thing to do...
No amount of money to be earned there is more important than the lives of people... so i don't think it is worth it...

Im not sure what is the best answer.. If you had very few opportunities available and its the difference between giving your children a future and a life of poverty would you still feel the same?
Also it has to be balanced to what is "high risk" as both countries have grades of security within them and regions which are safe. Which could also be on balance to the Philippines as areas of Mindanao which are in civil war wouldnt be a place you want to be but Cebu for example is a lot safer than London for example.

everywhere there is a danger and risk. it is more pronounced though in iraq and afghanistan. filipinos are known to be survivors and risktakers. added to the difficulties of life in the philippines, many filipinos travel abroad to look for work, either leggaly or illegaly. want it or not, there are many filipinos now in iraq and afghanistan. it is better to make their stay and work in those countries legal by lifting the ban.

I agree.. in the UK there was a shortage of soldiers.. but due to the recession recruitment numbers have shot up. But also if there is no bans then controlling and monitoring people in those countries should be made a priority to keep them safe.
