I have a shih tzu, she is about 5 months old. We are doing the whole crate training thing, but she still goes in the house. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to house break animals? I am so tired of seeing messes like that in the house. I don't want to always leave her in her crate, cause then I would have gotten her for nothing. I do have kids in the house which makes the mess on the floor even worse to see. We always takes her outside and plays with her. Or is it I just need to be patient longer? Cause she does go outside, just I guess when you have to go you have to go. I need to know if I am doing something wrong.

When your dog goes inside, make sure that you show her your disapproval. Try saying "No!" in a loud voice every time she does it so she knows it's not okay. Then praise her when she goes outside. Puppies are easy to train as habits don't have as much hold on them yet. Once she learns that it's not okay to go inside, then she'll act in such a manner that she knows will please you. If she's inside the house and she needs to go, she might scratch the floor near the door or bring you her leash to show you she needs to go outside.
You're doing okay. :) Don't get frustrated. She'll learn in time. :) Goodluck!

Yes you should be a bit strict with your lovable pets as sometimes enough love can make them irresponsible and undisciplined pet for you. So better stay strict and loudly shout when you want to show your discomfort towards your pet. And pets do understand only two languages, one is love and one is fear..!
