I knew when i got my laptop it had bluetooth But i didnt know how to use it or what to do with it. Its a slow day at work so i took the time today to figure out how to connect my cellular phone to my laptop. I was hoping maybe i could "push" some ringtones out to my phone. However i'm pretty sure the phone is a bit too cheap to be able to do that as it doesnt even send the pics via bluetooth to the computer.
Such as it is...I figured out how to send a contact from my outlook to my phone AND how to make my phone hands free by connecting it to the laptop YAY i was thrilled.
Do you have bluetooth on your cell or pc? do you use it? is it possible to push files back and forth (like pics or ringtones)?

Well bluetooth is the form of wireless communication way that replaced the old, slow and frustrating iR (infra Red) communication. It is mainly used to establish connections between handhelds (cellphones, pdas) and between handhelds and computers. Depending on the class and the version of bluetooth, the speed of transfer will vary. Now a days, almost all the high end portable devices come with bluetooth as its the easiest means of data transfer and connection establishment.
I use a Nokia N78 and a HP Pavilion Tx2115nr. Both of them have built in bluetooth. I do use it regularly as it's easier to transfer data and also quickly since I don't have to connect my phone using cable. And yes, it is possible to push files back and forth. But since bluetooth is a simplex transmission medium, you can either send OR receive at one time.

I have a USB to bluetooth Dongle. 100m.
I found it very good to use. I m using it for various services like Audio Gateway, File Transfer, using my cellphone as Webcam, using my Cellphone as Mic/Headphone.

Yes, i do. I think it's pretty cheap to have a bluetooth dongle now. I got mine long ago when it was still a bit expensive. But it's sturdy so it's ok. I think it's best to transfer small files using the bluetooth. Sometimes card readers are annoying. It works best with mobile phones. My phone is a Nokia 6680 and there's a software where i can control the music on my Windows Media Player.

My laptop is a few years old and doesn't they currently at that time didn't have the capability for laptops but my cellular phone does have bluetooth and that is something that I have to use because they have passed a law that the only way to use the phone while driving is to do so with a handsfree headset. I believe from what I have read that my wireless provider doesn't allow for files to be transmitted back and forth through bluetooth so that is one capability that I haven't used.

I noticed reading the manuals for my phone, my dads and moms phones tha some phones have different capbabliities through blue tooth. Its neat to play with. I WILL Get ringtones made and put on someones phone sometime soon. I like "challenges" that make my brain work.

Dear friend. I m using bluetooth from last 04 years. Bluetooth is nothing but a way to create sharing wireless. u can make LAN [Local Area Network] with this to share internet connections, data etc. through this u can easily share ur picture or ringtones with ur mobile phone. but I need to know what type is ur mobile phone is. its so easy as u transfer ur contact from outlook to cell phone. just choose the file that u wanna send from mobile or from ur pc go to option and send it via bluetooth. is reciever id Mobile then the file will send via SMS [nokia set], as a file and will show at the front [siemens] or it will save on recieve folder [other like any chiness set]. hope u can use the bluetooth. thnx.

I have been using bluetooth for quite a time. I have bluetooth on my mobile phone and on my computer. So usually, I just connect both of them and share pictures or media files back and forth. Its an excellent way of sending and receiving files without the use of wires. I was really wondering why the set up was called Bluetooth, later on I knew that it was named after a king who was very good in communicating and in so doing prevented wars with different kingdoms.
