Is life worth living without coffee?

I drink at least a gallon of coffee each day and I feel great! If I ever go for a day without it I get the worst headaches and just don't feel motivated because of it. I sleep o.k. most of the time, about 5 hours a night. I don't really feel that tired without it. I just don't like to be without it.
I love everything about it. The smoky flavor, the acidity, the heat, the flavors bursting out everywhere and the hyperness I gain. If the world fell apart right now I am not sure that I would even use any of my survival gear if it looked like there might not be coffee. Good thing I have a stock pile. How do you feel about the divine bean. Is a gallon too much. Is my heart mad at me?

we roast our own and drink as much as you but when you roast your own you can save the oil's and get a nice frothy top on the coffee. no jitters because its fresh and theres no preservatives but you have to use it in 2 weeks, which is no problem. it has to be dark roast for us, espresso, or strong italian roast. you can whip up a batch of beans in 35 minutes to roast and 5 minutes to cool down. you can get the green beans from any country you like, but jamaica blue mt. is still expensive even though the beans are green. also you can shop online for a roaster, for as much as you drink maybe look into one yourself.

Life without coffee!!! What would that be?? How could you function? What would you do when you first get out of bed? What would you do while you are perusing the internet? What would I wrap my hand around while I am writing???
What an absurd thought!

I love coffee. I have been drinking coffee for a few decades, but I try and limit my intake to a maximum of 2 cups a days. What I like about coffee as opposed to tea, is its richness and aroma. I am mindful not to become too addicted to coffee, such that if I don't have it, I feel uneasy or get some kind of withdrawal symptoms like your headaches. If coffee is not available, I can always drink tea or hot chocolate.
I feel that you drink too much coffee. One gallon is a lot for a day. I'd say you are already addicted to coffee since you are affected adversely without the beverage. People who are addicted to coffee get caffeine-withdrawal symptoms when they don't get their regular supply of coffee. What you are experiencing in terms of severe headaches and lack of motivation or alertness are known symptoms of this withdrawal. I hear many people say that too much caffeine is bad for health, so perhaps you should try and moderate your regular intake of caffeine for your health's sake.

I drink coffee rather than tea also but I think maybe you should try and cut down a bit. If you go without coffee you shouldn't suffer headaches etc. Have you ever tried decaf coffee? Maybe give it a go even if its just a couple cups a day to try and get rid of some of the caffine you are taking into your body! I would be lost without it as well!!!

Have just read comments from response above, sorry think I got it a bit wrong, my hubby drinks gallons of tea a day and there is far more caffine in tea than coffee. Sorry if I have offended you in any way. Take care

I don't think I can be offended. I value your thoughtfulness though. I've done a fair amount of research and have talked to a couple of doctors over the years and I've learned that it really won't hurt you as long as you don't drink so much that you overdose on the caffeine. You are probably right though, I might want to replace some of my coffee with some water or juice.

a great "NO"...i can't even start my day without any coffee around. for me, coffee is my energy drink in the morning and a wake up drink at night when i want to keep late at night till the break of dawn.
my regular intake of coffee per day would be somewhere from 3 to 4 cups a day. like now it's 1:30 in the morning and i had just prepared a hot cup of coffee.

I live for coffee. I drink it all day long. I have an espresso maker next to my regular coffee pot at home too.

Wow, a gallon of coffee per day! It’s really too much for me! Though I am a coffee lover, I still insist not to take more than two cups of coffee per day. I usually would like to take coffee in evening. Yeah, there is always a hope for me since morning. I know the evening coffee is still waiting there.
The coffee has become the great impetus to push me to work hard the whole day. Great, the evening coffee, my favorite beverage! It makes me to fell more energetic after drinking it. I always feel content after drinking the coffee. Life would be fading if without this wonderful aromatic coffee
Happy posting

Of course Life is very much worth living without things like coffee.I drink coffee every now and then. But I am not addicted to it.I feel coffee addiction can lead to a lot of problems.First it contains caffeine that itself is a cause for so many problems. Then coffee, atleast I have observed causes headaches rather than relieving me from them. Also it leads to acidity sometimes when I have had 3-4 cups on a day.So now I have reduced the frequency. The smell of coffee is nice but nowadays even that is getting so boring because I have been so used to coffee at my home!

Hi! Well i think that life is still worth living even without coffee. However, i do like to drink coffee too and without it life would maybe be dull! hahahaha! i love its taste and aroma anyway.... i would just like to inform that maybe you are already addicted to coffee, cafffeine and that you may need to lessen your intake as that it isnt really good for your health if you drink too much. And maybe that symptom of headache is already a sign that your are addicted. =)

Wow! A gallon is one heck of a lot of coffee... I sure hope you won't have any ill effects in the long term. Other people have already said what there is to say about caffeine addiction, so I won't say it again *smile* If I may say so, though, 5 hours sleep a night does not really sound adequate to me; I understand that 7-8 hours is ideal. Otherwise I would just emphasize the importance of drinking enough water and stuff to counterbalance the dehydration caused by caffeine.
As for me, I haven't been able to touch coffee in years, because I am acutely sensitive to caffeine; I get terrible jitters and my BP skyrockets. I even react to the minuscule traces of caffeine left in so-called de-caf. Pity really, I used to adore cappuccino *sigh*

It's the caffeine, and if you can't get by without it, it's because your body is chemically addicted to it. Try going without it for a fe days and you'll start to get headaches when you don't get that caffeine fix, but a couple of weeks without it will do wonders. Your body will stop depending on it and your metabolism will skyrocket. Coffee is only a good fix if you are tired from the get go, not to wake you up, which is sadly the most common use of it. Hence the 35,000+ coffee shops in the country.

Absolutely not. Life without coffee would be terrible. I hate tea and everything its associated with. Nothing cheers you up in the morning like a good coffee

One gallon? Wow, how did you do that? Me, that will be too much. I love to drink coffee but only for 1 to 2 glass per day and this will depend on my mood because sometimes I don't feel like drinking it. I just do it especially if I do not have enough sleep or if the weather is too cold.
I think drinking too much is not good for your health.

I stopped drinking coffee about three years ago because it was just messing up my sleeping schedule and to be honest I do not even miss it or having any cravings for coffee now. And to be honest not matter how much you like it I think a gallon is just too much. maybe you are a fit person who exercises regularly and stays healthy but it will get to you someday. I quit drinking coffee by reducing the amount of it everyday. I am not suggesting that you quit but try lowering the amount you drink everyday until it comes to a normal amount, maybe 2 cups a day. And I am sure you don't want your heart hating you :P.
