would you still court a girl even if she already has a boyfriend?

i recently heard from a colleague about her friend being in a difficult situation. that friend of hers currently has a boyfriend, with whom she's been together since college. after graduation, she was quickly able to find a job... unfortunately, her bf is still jobless until now. a few months ago, one of her colleagues started courting her. this colleague of hers knows that she has a boyfriend but would often argue with her that whenever he invites her out for dinner or a movie... it doesn't mean she's courting her... it only means that they're going out as friends. however, the guy would often mention to her that if she gets to know him more... she might find him better that his current boyfriend. in my opinion, as a guy, an honorable and honest guy at that, one should never do such a thing. saying that "it's only a friendly date" would seem like the guy is just defending his actions from the girl's eyes, but deep inside him the guy wants to see if he would still get a chance of getting the girl. but of course, this is just my opinion... any takes on the topic? comments? opinions? rants?
