Well me, I recite depending on the questions. When no one of my classmates knows the answer and I do, that's the time I would only recite in class :)

I'm sorry . My English is not good enough to understand what you meant . Does the word 'recite' mean retelling the article without looking at it ? I have had such a lucky thing . One day my Chinese told us to prepare for the text and take some notes . However , I did not do it,like many students in my class . The next day morning , the teacher got very angry when he saw it . He therefore asked us to copy the text for three times . I had to take part in a competition at that time , so I would not have enough time to do it . I said to my Chinese teacher :' I can recite the text before your class , don't let me copy the text .' He agreed , then I recited the text frequently in his class . He seemed to be happy to have such a student like me . Because of this , I was thought highly of by him . PS: I am a high school student from China . So my English is not so good .......

What do you mean by "recite"? I've only recited a few things in class, and those have been speeches that we had to memorize. Just as a side note: I LOVE YOUR AVATAR! I used to love the show Daria.

Do you mean recitation? Recitation in class??? Anyway, when I was in Elementary and HS I used to participate in recitation. Especially when I was in Elementary I even volunteered in a sudden reporting ^^ I'm really brave back then but now that I'm in college...hmmm I didn't participate at all LoL ^o^ I don't want them to notice me hehehe I'm afraid that the day will come that they will ask me something that I don't know and that will be so embarrassing hehehe

Ofcourse you'll recite when you know the answer, but do not just keep or mouth shut if you don't. Participating in class discussion makes a big score in your report card, rather than in exams. And you dont want to spoil your saliva the whole year, and there's detendency for you to have a lock-jaw when you dont talk so often. So atleast say something in class,if your professor or teacher asks you and you dont know the answer, then just say that you dont know the answer!Atleast you've recited,so i think it counts. :-)

I will recite as long as I am sure my answer is right... But if I am not sure, I would give the opportunity for other students to answer, while convincing myself that my answer is correct..
