Why do people need to drink alcohol to have a good time?

I have always wanted to know why people need to drink to have a good time. I personally don't like the drunk feeling. Also why do people think it is fun to get drunk in the first place?
I don't like drinking much. I do have a drink every now and again but very rarely, so i am not against alcohol but i don't see why some people want to get drunk and why some think its cool to get drunk or like the taste of their drink (its disgusting).

I thought the same way too. Well, all I know is the good time means is to socialize with friends and when drinking involved it can get crazy and they feel like having fun. I don't like getting drunk coz I feel idiot if I do. I know coz I've been drunk once. I don't like to talk to drunk people either, they don't make sense and smells terrible..

Well i honestly have to say that i am the type that gets drunk for fun. It helps me forget my problems ands temporarily takes away the pain. I just the love the feeling, not really sure why. Here where i live it is rare to see a perso that doenst drink alot. Of course i only get drunk when i go out which is every saturday and not every night, that would be too much.
