When do you crave for a big, raw salad?

When I´m all alone for a few days I eat sandwichs a lot. They are easy to take to the computer or to the TV and have some machine company.
But after some days, I just crave for a big, big, salad. I like greek mostly because it has so many different flavours. I love the tomatoes, the sweet peppers, the olives, the feta cheese.
You do crave for the fresh raw salad flavour once in a while? When is that? Which salad so you prefer? Do you often make salads?

I crave big raw salads mainly in the Summer when it's far too hot to cook, the last thing you want to do when you are already hot is to be in the kitching cooking! So I crave salads a lot in the hot weather and when vegetables are abundant, especially if they are home grown, there is nothing more tastier than vegetables that are grown in your garden. I like a nice big salad with lots of colour, reds from radishes, beetroot and peppers, yellows from peppers, greens from lettuce, celery, cucumber and onions. Mmm now I feel hungry!

Summer is a good time to have salads. Besides there are so many veggies that you don´t get in it´s prime at other times. I love the colors too!

When I'm alone I tend to eat mostly sandwiches too, or maybe soup. Whatever works in front of the computer...lol. I'm a huge salad eater, and make a lot of them at home. However, when I make a salad as a meal, I like LOTS of different things in it. When I'm in that kind of a mood, I find it's cheaper just to go to a good salad bar. To buy the individual ingredients would be more, since they are sold in larger quantities that what I need for my salad. At least going out tears me away from the computer for a while...lol.

It does me good to get out of the house once in a while. Plus it gives my keyboard a chance to cool off...lol. When I go out for a salad bar, I bring a good book with me.
I live in a pretty hot area, so the ingredients aren't grown locally. With the shipping a refrigeration costs, the ingredients actually cost more that what I get at a salad bar. When I first moved here from New England, I was shocked at the cost of fruits and vegetables.

Hi friend,
I have found so many women here who, like me, live alone and have a love story with the computer and sandwichs. I discovered those veggie bags with little holes in them to wash raw greens and place them there. They can be kept for days and I just grab some of this and some of that to make a salad.
But I must accept that an outing is good by itsaelf! Take care

I love salads when the weather is so hot I don't want to cook. There's such a variety of salads you can prepare. Sometimes I like lettuce with tomato and cucumber and maybe some broccoli with an Italian style dressing. Other times when it's cool in the morning I'll boil some potatoes or pasta and add lots of fresh veggies and creamy dressing and pop it in the fridge so I have something to nibble on (besides sandwiches) for a few days.

Depending on what I am in the mood for eating, usually I will make myself some soup or a sandwich when I am alone. I am trying to watch what I eat and eat mostly healthy so a salad is something I would eat every now and again or when I don't feel like cooking and have gotten tired of eating sandwiches. I love having a big salad on a hot summer day with tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions with my homemade lemon and oil dressing.

I always believed that salad is the food of our food, something to put on your plate so your raw steak can have a nibble and become even juicier. Though i will eat italian salad every now and then when there is no cow around to steal ribs from.
