what is leader board and levels

hi, to every body i have joind recently in my lot team and i need so many clarifications from my mylot friends who have so many experience in this.first of all in every interest i find leader board and below that i find some my lot memberes (i think so)name and besides that some level -11 or level 17 etc. what does it mean and how to attain it pl explain.
