Iv never really believed in psychiatry becuse just the thought of someone telling me about myself is a little wired to me, so I just would never consider seeing a psychiatrist, but it seems like the older I get the more open minded I become, and now when I think of psychiatry as a whole it dosent seem as ridiculous as it use to be, I mean I dont think of it so negatively anymore becuse basically, all psychiatry really is just a person who is paid to listen and help you understand your self more clearly, and theres really nothing wrong with that, at least now that I think about, but sometimes those, old feeling of the profession creep in, but I dont think its such a bad thing all in all.
What do you think about psychiatry as a whole do you believe in it?

There job is to help you understand yourself. Sometimes we may feel that we know the reasons we do things .and why we feel the way we do. However there maybe things we don't know about iurselfs becouse we r looking out and not at ourselfs. They will tell you what othier will not and help you over come things. I have never seen one myself but I have studyed this at uni. It a study of the brain and how it works in linking us to our actions and feelings.

A psychiatrist is a counselor and a medical doctor. And yes, I do believe in them. Now people have problems, that is just life. And a lot of people will never have the need for a psychiatrist. But there are those of us who do. Especially people with schizophrenia or the like. Of course some people need to see one for plain old depression. But it seems now days when it comes to counseling a patient, people are sent to psychologists. Psychiatry seems to focus on medication way more than the counseling. A lot of times I think people see psychologists rather than talk to friends, is because they know they will not be judged. It is sad that people often feel like they cannot be completely open and honest with those closest to them, you know?

Yes I do believe in psychiatry. It is a branch of medicine. I believe psychiatrists could help in curing mental illnesses. They know the proper medicine to take for each kind of mental illness a certain person has.

I see one every3 or 4 months. But the only good I ever get out of it is that he prescibes an antidepressant. I think its very good for alot of people, because if they are diagnosed with clinical, mjor, or some kind of depression, they can be treated and have hope instead of no hope. Also, I know some people who are manic depressive and bi-polar and some medicines prescribed help them and that also gives them hope.
