Banana split, oh what a wonderful thing!

Mine today was a banana split in half, then on top of that were one scoup of vanilla, one of raspberry ice cream, and one of raspberry and vanilla twist. Then a spoonful of strawberries on top of one, then pineapple on top of one, chocolate syrup on top of another one. Then chopped peanuts and dried coconut on top of that, and whipped cream on top of that. They must have been out of cherries, they usually put one on top. I think I'll have them put butterscotch syrup instead of the chocolate syrup next time or maybe blueberries instead. I might do all three vanilla since there aren't many choices for ice cream at the place I went. I would like to make a banana split at my home instead of go somewhere else some day. That way I can have the ice cream I want and the toppings I want, but that could get expensive. So what do you have on a banana split when you have one? Do you go out to have one? Do you make one at your home? What do you usually have on it? What would be an ideal banana split to you? Do you think it would be expensive or cheap? I think a cheaper one I could make would be banana, three scoups of vanilla, drizzled with honey, and put crushed oreo cookies on top. Leave off the whipped cream. Cheapest I could make would be bananas on sale, ice cream on sale with wild berries I picked for free on top, no cream, but I think it would still need a little something, what do you think?

Oh man, I haven't had a banana split in ages...I'd love one but it would probably kill me LOL (diabetes). My brother and I once split a thing called a turtle...it's a thick fudge brownie smothered in caramel, nuts, chocolate and whipped topping...OMG, it's wonderful...two bites and I was vibrating!! I thought I'd explode but it was worth it... ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Without nuts there is no banana split for me. I always have walnuts on mine. It seems like forever since I have had one. Maybe this summer I will treat the grandchildren and myself to one!

I love nuts and walnuts would definitely make it better than peanuts. I'm with you! I think I'll make one of my own. Honey drizzled on ice cream is amazing with the walnuts. Take care and have fun with the grandchildren and the banana split.

I have NEVER had a banana split. Even before I stopped eating bananas - and that was in like 7th grade, so I was like 11. Never liked that strawberry gunk and hate pineapple - and don't even start me on coconut! now, I've had some sundaes with chocolate, chocolate ice cream, chocolate syrup, chocolate whipped cream and a cherry on top sound devine!

I make banana splits at home all the time. We take a banana and cut it in half. then cut the half down the middle and use them that way. Also I use only vanilla icecream. I have alot of toppings. My mother bought me a sundae kit for christmas this past year. I like hot fudge and strawberry, with whip topping on mine. I would rather have one at home than go buy one. They seem to never put enough stuff on them.
